    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Tire tools! (what do you have in the toolbox)

I have finally made the jump and bought a set of those non marring plastic tire tools, some motion pro rim gaurds, and some wheel weights.

I do need a balancing stand too.

To dismount I use an automotive tire machine bead breaker to break the bead.....

Then last time a simple auto tire lever that was wrapped in a inner tube and electrical tape, but it still scratched my warp 9 wheels. I am hoping the new tools are the "right stuff"

To mount, I simply use the zip tie mounting method using the wheel on some carboard on concrete, both sprockets and rotors removed, spray some glass cleaner and simple step the tire onto the rim. FANTASTIC.

But, I have never balanced a moto wheel yet. I am currently looking for a balancer but rocky mountain was sold out....


So what tools do you do the dirty deed with?

I think it needs extremely low resistance on the axle/bearing so that the tire/wheel finds its heavy spot very easily. Im 99% sure that there is too much resistance to properly balance it on the axle.....right? I mean it takes very little to balance a normal supermoto wheel, but these warp 9 wheels take like 10 weights to get close >:(
 
If you remove the spacers, and loosen the axle, it might work. There is too much drag in bearings and seals to have it work with them.

I have some regular tire irons (large and small), a valve core remover, and a valve guide on a wire thinger, that's about it. Don't need fancy tools to change a tire.

I do have a little homemade balancing stand, it's just a shaft and some open ball bearings, I stick it through the wheel and balance it on some jack stands, works mint!
