  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thinking about purchasing a TE 511 and have some questions

I don't mind the dealer charging shop time for work done. They have to make a living. I hope zip Ty collects on work
Done,,,I don't know anything about Malcolm smith but .5 is about the minimum a dealer can charge for anything.
By the time you run a bike in, talk to customer, do it, roll bike out, talk to customer again, your lucky if you really
Made a dime....

Hey Tinken, do you know how the MAP 3 is loaded? via the HST tool or the MOSS? I work at Husky dealer and this is the first time I've heard of it.. sure like to try it on my own 511- Thanks
HST, moss is for the Terra. I remember that it was a map they made last year. I'm thinking it will help people who use the JD tuner because it will provide a more solid base. Also help people who would like their bikes to run smoothly without add-on's. I flamed out 8 times in a two mile stretch, now, never.

hi all
first things first
sorry 4 breaking in some1 else's topic

what i am curious about , is this
if u were going2 buy the husky again would, u buy the 511 or the 449 , and why?

this because off the fact i want 2 buy a 511 but if u all prefer the 449 (or reverse) I
will trust ur judgement (cause u r owners so the experts knowing the ins and outs)

I don't mined bad english, but could you spell out the words next time?
"Sorry for my" instead of "Sorry 4 my"?

Hey Tinken, my dealer blew me off, told me Husky is not even retruning calls on map3. IS there a northern California dealer who is doing this upload??

Sorry to hear that, I'm not familiar with dealers in north Cali. I created an order form for zipty, but have not heard from Ty as to what we are going to charge.

Very similar bikes, get the one you get the best deal on.

The bike is provided with a "power up jumper" it is a small electrical plug with two pins connected together. When you plug it into a socket under the seat the bike goes into race map mode. It goes from nice power to OMG.

Thanks for the information.

What is the BMW Map 3 anyway ? Is it a map they used on their 450X ? The mechanic who tuned my PCV just modified the map
that came with it, which I'm pretty sure wasn't the correct map.

hi thanks for the reply, at this moment both the 449 as the 511 are similar priced.
and i get also same refund for my old (lol 2011) motor . (vsrtom650)

so thats why i wondered if there are significant differences between them, or that
the power of the power off the 511 is overkill.

is it true that the TE serie s got the close ratio gearbox from the TC
(in other words , one has to shift verrry quikly and the 6th gear too short (no overdrive?)

FYI folks, zipty does the download of map3 if ur getting stonewalled by ur local X-Husky dealer (BMW)

hi

thanks again for the responses.
didnt buy a 449 or 511, but did buy a TE
(310 R brand new, and i let them build a recluse in it )

hopefully i did the right thing

Thanks to all who posted, but I’ve decided to purchase a better and more reliable bike

with a better dealer network.

Just kidding, I picked up my new Husky TE 511 yesterday. Thanks again for all who posted.

Steering head bearings, swing arm, linkages, axles, just everything....at least thats what I did,,,,not hard
To do, use your manual, take your time.

I pick the outer wheel bearing seals, blow what little grease might be there and repack with water proof grease.
