  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thinking about purchasing a TE 511 and have some questions

Husqvarna

Hello all,
I hate for my first post to be filled with questions, but because of the recent incentive
plans for Husqvarna I’ve decided to look into purchasing a 2013 TE 511. (sorry KTM and Beta)
Now before you ask, yes I used the search function and did not find what I was looking for.
My first question is their seems to be a problem with 2011-2012 511’s stalling when you change
The exhaust system, did husky change anything with the fuel map in 2013? Does the bike still
Stall in stock form? (Or does the adjusting the air screw and TPU reset fix the stalling)
Second, do you have to change the pipe to use/change the A/F maps? (I keep seeing map 2 map 3)
Once you change the pipe what are the products to fix the stalling problem and what is the cost?
How reliable is the TE 511? Has anyone purchase the extended warranty and what was the cost.
I would have PM people, but it seems you have to me a member. Thanks for your help in advance.
Feel free to make suggestions.
Will

Add a powercore4 slip-on. Have your dealer load BMW map#3, run the jumper and do not buy the extended warranty which is pretty much useless on the reliable TE511.

I asked about reloading maps and they don't do it on the phone anyway . Please point me to one who does :)

Probably can't say they can load them, even if they can. CARB and AQMD are not to be underestimated. Trust me they are sneaky. They (AQMD) regularly waltz into private, fenced areas to check our generator certificates and see if any portable units have been moved in.

I sure would be careful. Heck right after I bought mr TE, I asked three different dealers about ordering an Akro. One dealer who shall remain nameless, had a parts guy who looked totally nervous that I had simply asked the question.

After Jan1, 2013, you cannot add an aftermarket exhaust to a street licensed motorcycle. But many TE's are used for off road only. For your TE, you can always (and should) purchase an exhaust for the TC449.

Funny, I asked my dealer to put the map 3 in the bike yesterday and he didnt know anything about it. He called his rep and was told to re-install the Map 2

My dealer, whom I called about loading a different map, said no problem,
I have an appointment on the 17th. I wil let you know if that dang Tinken is right
For once,,,LOL!

run the jumper ?

The bike is provided with a "power up jumper" it is a small electrical plug with two pins connected together. When you plug it into a socket under the seat the bike goes into race map mode. It goes from nice power to OMG.

Couple things come to mind: guard dogs , quick sand , bear traps , pressure sensor tripped water canons , ankle breaking fence post holes ........

My Misses might spank me raw but at the price these dealers are selling off the 449 and 511 I might buy one as a spare!

At these prices its easy to figure on throwing $500-800 bucks at it to get it right.

My fixes: Pipe, skid plate, hand guards and JD tuner pretty much makes a pretty damn good dual-sport.

Other fixes: Vent the crankcase and get a radiator overflow!

NOW go buy that new ride!!

Randy, you forgot the double barrel shotgun..

Heaven forbid, someone actually listen to my nonsense! I called Malcolm Smith, they will only load map #3 onto a RED sticker bike. $45 bucks. I muffled f-that. Highway robbery!

Hey Tinken, do you know how the MAP 3 is loaded? via the HST tool or the MOSS? I work at Husky dealer and this is the first time I've heard of it.. sure like to try it on my own 511- Thanks

I was going to try and go by there and ask. I was not sure they would acknowledge that on the phone.
Are some dealers doing it as a courtesy for problem bikes?
