  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st The obligatory video thread.

G'day, Looks good - but have you got a version with just the bike noise?

I first posted it with some instrumental Beastie Boys music that you could barley hear. Youtube decided that I was infringing on some sort of copyright and nuked the video until I used some of their music. I erased the original files so I don't have anything to make a new video. Maybe I can get a Vimeo account? Hmmm....

I'm enjoying the footage from all over the world so I'll bump this thread back to the top with another video.

..oh never mind. I looked again at title -lol

I've been trying to get some info on which setting is best for riding. Is the fps the biggest issue? I had it on the default setting 960-30. What about the resolution? If I put it on 60fps, then I get 720 res. Would the 960-48 setting be a fair trade to the 720-60? Or have you dialed yours in and like the 60fps best?

Use the 720p 60 fps setting for areas that are open and or sunny. The video quality will be way better than with any other setting. For dark forests such as Canada, use the 960p, or 1080p setting, at 30 fps. The 30 fps will allow the shutter to stay open twice as long so the "film" can expose properly in low light. Here is a link with good information about it.

I love watching these videos, can't believe the amount of land you guys have on your doorstep. We do have terrain like that in the UK but you will be arrested if you ride on it!
Keep them coming even though I am green with envy!

My second ride on a two stroke, my first in the snow (with studs) and with my Rekluse.

And for you music haters, sorry, I forgot to adjust the volume before I uploaded it. Too bad, but it's good music.

RusRider, brilliant video, that boy can ride and no man was getting in his way, that last pass was out or order, glad he ended up on his backside!
