    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Picked up a 86 TE510 for Motosportz Mike today. Nice stock unmolested condition. Never ridden one from this vintage. Ripped around the seller property and around my house on the street and am surprised how much snap and overall power it has. Also the bike feels light when loading and moving it around. Kinda cool machine. Made a great contact on the sale as well, cool guy with TONS (like barns full) of vintage and other parts.

I bought an 88 probably in 97 which was pretty well used. I see I must have removed the chain guard to use the dot Pirelli tire. Strange my rims are still more gold but the bike in these pictures would seem much less used. The differences from mine seem to be the top plastic stuff but not the side covers and air cleaner from what I notice. I kind of wanted to try and see how long one would last what with no real oil pump. I don't understand what is going on with the timing chain I have gone through two I got from the dealer network and am now on one I got from the bearing distributor. The aluminum sprocket I can see is like new and the chain tensioner seems to work like it is supposed to though I haven't taken the cylinder off.

I now notice that the front brake appears to be the one I call the floppy disc not the one I associate with 87-88. I changed over to that one but had to switch the fork legs side for side as that set up has a big casting in one leg.
 
I love the Ceet strobe design seat cover. Brings back fond memories of when my little trail bike was still young and I thought that cover design was so cool, I bought one and installed it even though the stock cover wasn't damaged.:cool:
 
Very cool. Looks in real nice shape. I may be getting an 88 510TE, and while clean, it's been messed with some. Really like the original look of this one, and the strobe ceet cover as well.
 
Just noticed the clip. Be sure to post up any clips of it in motion. I just got my 88 510TE late today. Mine is pretty clean, but it's been rebuilt to a certain degree. I much prefer original, even if more weathered. Just makes it easier to assess what's what, and things that have been refreshend and that haven't.

This bike you have there, is a fantastic starting point from my perspective. Sure, she needs it appears a few little things addressed, but what an original appearing bike, wow. Cool stuff! My TE, doesn't even look like a TE anymore lol. As the saying I hear in vintage mopar circles........goes, they are only original once.
