• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Looks like a typical over-jump but RD5 was riding right beside him with no issue so I'm not sure... Looks like he ran out of horse or something ... Maybe he was too far over the forks?

I'll add this one just to show the the suspension work going over these smaller sections...front usually compress almost fully also on many take-0ffs.

He walked away a little beat up, but ready for next round. They tore his bike down and found nothing wrong. I wonder if he smoked the clutch a little from those 3rd gear starts?

Was there a report the bike had an issue? I was assuming he just got wonky, it happens. Looking at the vid it seems if the motor was an issue he would have just cased the next jump but he veers off to the right. When i saw it live I thought he hooked a footpeg on Dungys bike or something but Dungy didn't seem to move. If he fried the clutch why does he shoot off to the right? Maybe he was counting on the power to move the back end around and correct his angle? That could be as if you watch a lot of steering comes from the rear. Its puzzling for sure. The other thing is look how he is leaning forward a bunch like he was waiting for power that did not come. We have all done that a time or two, like almost going over the bars when you miss a shift.
 
He reported, he thought there was a bike malfunction. The rear tire was locked up when he pushed it off the track, so I thought the motor locked up but must have been crash related. Looked to me like he had no drive up the jump face and threw him over the bars and off balance which put him off the track.

The rear wheel was still spinning in air, not to say the engine didn't bog? But what you say makes sense.
 
Maybe it was a traction thing ...for what ever reason the bike looked like it collapsed on landing and stayed down or maybe too much tire spin caused the bike to stay down an instant too long and Shorty was tossed as shown ... Him and RD5 are almost a mirror through that section ...
