• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Test Ride Zip Ty Racing TC 449

I never even noticed the side panels...err...lack of side panels. It really is a neat looking bike. Better and better every time I look at it.

Dirtrider or one of the other mags did say it has lots of power, so that is encouraging. They also said it was heavy at 240, but don't all the other 450s (except the Honda) weigh in at the high 240s?

1 To tell you the truth all the new modern 4 strokes are fast but it seems with the rear countershaft sproket set up the power felt like it got to the ground better and i did not feel the rear end sliding around trying to get traction Remember the ATK my 560 and 604 just would not wheelie just went stright bad comparason but the closes i have
2 Not as heavy as my 510 but heavier then wr250 BUT once riding it the weight was not a factor I never fell over so i did not get to pick it up
3 EFI felt fine to me
4 Turned fine much better since there is not the weight of the gas in the tank toward the front of the bike .Turned fast and smooth
5 The map switch did make a difference a little less hit when on
would work nice in the tight stuff

Botton line it is better then last years bike and worlds better then just a few years ago .We keep thinking the bikes can not get any better but they do This bike is better then last years bike what eles can we say .

Thanks for taking the time.

kidding aside, ajax really knows his stuff out there. he got a golden oppertunity and shared it with us and you can take what ajax says to the bank.

and now i want one. dang it.

robertaccio;125604 Kel you should see the local mx forum down here in socal if think those guys over there are out to lunch..it would almost be funny if it were not mostly very serious minded and stated with such belief!! )[/QUOTE said:
Rob must be talking about all of our good friends at Pro-Ride.com....where it is infested with TransworldMX Stalwarts and diehards

Stalin would have a tough time hanging in that forum.... they would kick him out on his ass for being to weak****************************************!

Absolutely Merciless. I've been there .

truth is I posted the news that Michael Leib has a letter of intent with Ricci to ride the TC250 in MX2 and the slagging was minimal the SoCal Japano-centric somewhat KTMic folks are starting to realize that there other manufacturers out there. They kept bringing up the TC449 and I kept throwing up the MXA blurb on the 2011 TC250 letting all the know it alls, understand that MX2 is the 250F class and that the TC250 in its race clothes is a serious contender.
Those guys have really drank the Big 4 punch, with a side cocktail of KTM coming through. It is funny over there.

i think you have to remember the age group of the people on that forum, and the average age of the Husky rider. i just hit the 30 year mark (being alive not riding ) and am probably on the younger side of Husky's faithful.

Good or bad, the big 4 are what kids are exposed to with: kid friendly bikes, winning races on TV, and dealers at every corner.

Right and maybe they will follow ML during the season and when they see a cool looking EU bike (that they can own) racing and winning ... They just might want a piece of the action ;) ... We need to post Huskies bike riding in places other than among just the Husky forms as much as possible to advertise the bikes ... That 310 Husky is the bike everyone should want to own .... with a side order of 449 for some ...

I ride a supercross track in San Jose (408 MX) weekly where the average age of the riders are 21 years. I love it when they come over to look at the Husky TE510 after I passed them out on the track. Then they cant believe the bike is street legal. It's fun watching some kids take notice to Huskys, thats one of the greatest parts of riding them.

Wonder how fast the aftermarket stuff will catch up to the 449? Autoclutch, pipes, performance mods, etc..... Actually, the bike is growing on me and I'm kinda kicking it around?

Jim
just made the biggest truth point of all, that most guys dont even consider because of ego issues. I will just make an example of me on my 08 TXC450 would get possitively smoked by any number of "retired" local 40-50 ex pros, even if they rode their heyday bikes from the early 90s late 80s. Its all about the rider that is the beauty of moto racing/riding a large percentage of the drive is rider, where as in other motorsports the vehicle plays a higher percentage in the equation.

the biggest important i improve oneself physically and mentally, with hard work, good equipment (comfort ergos).

then go out and ride a stock bike and beat all the hot rods.
the 449 will far exeed most riders expectations and skill level and be a great ride for most riders (better be!!)

After reading tons of know-all, hot air idiocy on the German Husky forum, t´was VERY refreshing to see a clear cut assessment by a knowledgeable rider who has actually experienced the bike. Thumbs up!

I beleive the bikes will come with 2 pipes the bike i rode had the performance pipe on it and it seemed to be with in legal limits for sound.
As for aftermarket parts Ty is working on that, it was nice to see him smile as he talked about the bike and some of the plans he has for it .
Things like steering stablizers ,suspention setting because we are all different ,protection parts and a bigger tank are all in the plans .

Date 10/10/10 Location Luceren Calif At the AMA National Hare and Hound Race .Ty had brought out a new 449 for display and was ridding it around .Ty said i could ride after the race ,i was racing my Wr 250
and finished 2 nd 250 Mag A and 4 th in the combined 250 and open national class .So after the race i went over to the Zip Ty Racing Pits .
No need to go over all what has been printed about the bike already .
Here is what i noticed as a regular racer first thing you notice is how slim the bike is because the gas tank is under the seat which goes all the was up to the handle bars .As i lifted the bike off the stand it felt real balanced and about 240 pounds .As i pushed the button to start it i notice even with the race pipe on it it seemed well with in the legal limit for noise. There are 2 different setting for the timming per a button on the bars i set it to race and took off .First test was a high speed set of woops where the bike tracked true even when i shut the gas off to see if i could up set the balance.Gone was the heavy front feel you get with other Huskies that have the bigger gas tank on them with the fuel out in the wings .Back on the gas the bike pulled stright up to high speed again .Next i went and climbed a few hills where the lack of wheel spin made me feel like the bike could climb just about anything. Then i went over to a rocky tight canyon with small water fall ledges ,there i set the timming to less of a hit and rode the bike like a trails bike .There again with the lack of real wheel spin and the weight in the center made the front easy to lift up and over the big rocks.i wanted to keep riding but i knew i needed to return the bike .On the way back i found a high speed smooth road and the bike went as fast as i wanted to go ,plus with the lack of any real vibration i felt this bike in dual sport trim will be a real great bike .Back at the pits it was hard to get my helmet of because of the big smile on my face .i do have a TE 510 and race both a CR 125 and a WR 250 but i could race this bike just as it was .I sat and talked
Husky with Ty for a while and heard of many changes on the way both in new bikes and people .As a Husky fan i am glad to see
Husky on the way back to the top

Thanks! :)

Fantastic to get first hand reviews.

Regarding cafe husky vs other places on the internet to discuss things, cafe husky is only as good as we make it. I am not sure talking about the relative merits of the other places is making cafe husky a better place.

Negativity of any kind is highly contagious.
