• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tecate HS on 12/3/11

Get your passport and get a bajabound insurance policy (see advert on Los Ancianos site). This is one of the best races in the SW zone. We will most likely come down on Fri afternoon and camp in the paddock/pit area.
Note also Baja Bound Adventures will most likely have CRF450Xs set up and available for rent for this ride, for bikeless out of towners.

Wounder if the Zip Ty Team will come down again this year and defend there # 1 overall and # 1 team

I'm ready. gear is all dialed, body (old) is really working well (good diet + RynoPower supplements and Brux).
The bike will get oil change, new pirelli scorpion pro fims, need to pop off the the front pads (they have been squealing lately), slight chain adjustment with new renthal chain, check hyd clutch fluid, check zipty/evans coolant level, shock is on fresh service all chassis bearings are on fresh lube, GPR is on fresh service, get some race gas in the tank, clean her and make her look pretty for the start!! Signed 40B for 1200 "Pro" race.
Hope to see other Cafe crew at the event.

Thanks we always look forward to Los Ancianos' events, this is closest thing to an "east coast" race we have down here. The trails are consistant with many NE type trails. Ask NE 80s-90s ace Kevin Hines about Tecate Single track.

Going to be missing this one....

Coaching U-12 girls in AYSO futbol (Soccer) in regional playoffs here in Sunny San Diego :applause:

Family first!!! Getting ready for 2012 Western Enduro Series, Tractor Racing Tecate HS, Idaho Qualifier and next years LA...Maybe Last Man Standing at GH...

Best of luck to all of you racing Tecate HS this weekend, should be epic, lots of rain over the past several weeks should make it great....plus finally modernizing the scoring system.....

Mitch...

We'll miss you there for sure. (but ok, less competition for me!!) YESSS MotoTally scoring!!

What say we walk into GP and each buy a TXC310 for the 2012 season?.........(I am not quite there yet but close)

nevermind......after that text i just got.

I believe it was 2003 I rode that one. Was way fun to go over into Mexico and ride the event.
I thought I did really well, passed a bazillion riders, then found out I was like 22 of 27 in my class. :busted:

EDIT: Oh, lookie here, my GasGas with the Tecate HS numbers on it. Photo date is 5/11/03, so maybe it was the '02 event and the numbers were left on it. I thought the event was like in October or something. Gee that was a long time ago...

Cool. Chilly White rode GasGas for a number of years when Steve Marolda at Motowest was sponsoring.
I met him once at the store, have never ridden with him.

Rob N. checked in earlier this evening from Tecate border line. Looking like P-2 in Sen. B :applause:

Rob rocked it this year, I think all races entered, all podium spots****************************************! Woo Hoo great job Rob....

Said Pro line was stacked, Taylor Robert P-1, Bobby G P-2.....Jaime Lanza was leading the Pro race until a cracked engine case ended his day (That's the early word)...

I'm sure Rob will update later, just wanted to throw Rob some props for a great year of racing****************************************!

thanks man, and fellow cafe husky crew. I got my first holeshot of my life off the 40+B line. gapped the field but caught the 30Bs in a tight single track conga line (no one would move aside I came close to being barbanging a-hole)and could not get through them for a while, but I still extended my lead to probably 15mins near the 3/4 of the 27 mile lap, then in a very ugly rock section I nailed my brake pedal and folded it (deja vu) under the clutch cover (thank you 7602 for that "unbreakable" billet cover that saved me again!!), it was locked up. I had to stop and use valuable time @10 mins and energy and branches to lever the thing out enough to get through the section and into the final more open stuff back to the pits. I came in still leading and the guys used an adjustable wrench to pull the pedal out enough for the final loop, more lost time, topped the tank and fuel me too and took off just as my friend and fellow gentleman racer Dai Jones '12 300KTM (from Wales) beat me back onto the course from his pit. I knew it was me and him 1-2 so a test of wills set in as I keyed off him thinking I will shadow then pounce near the finish. But it was Daves day as the snow was whitening the higher elevations and he gapped me through the down hill rock sections. Then I popped my chain off a rock but got it back on quickly, that hurt my drive. I could still hear Dai smooth and powering ahead. I cleaned the last very ugly rock sections and got the second wind into the final few more open miles and really stepped outside my safe zone and really hammered hard but never could get back on Dai. Hat's off to Dai and his smooth sailing well earned victory!! I am completly stoked at the ugliness that we did on this one, the hard sections were built from the clubs premiere trials guy. More to come. ANother finish for the TXC450!!! and my old arse!! P2****************************************Rob
