• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE630 Rear Tire Replacement

Has anyone tried the Motoz Mountain Hybrid?
I'm thinking that might be worth playing with on the new rim...just need to find somewhere to get one from!

Thanks mate, unfortunately the shipping costs to Aus are prohibitive, I'll find a local distributor with some sooner or later though!

Sorry..forgot you were on another continent. ;)

I like how Husqvarna has a world-wide appeal. Seems like Aus/NZ like their Euro bikes. I have a Triumph too and love it.

Yep, used to have a 2010 Daytona 675 as well which I loved!
I sold it because as I got more and more into track riding I didn't want to cry myself to sleep at night if I crashed it....so I got an R6 instead - and promptly crashed it; so a good choice really :D

Husky, KTM, Berg are really popular here though quite pricey so still a lot of the Jap bikes kicking around. That said, I suspect they have lost a lot of ground to the Euro's over the last ten years, the last five years in particular (mainly because the Japanese bikes are largely the same, the new WR250F being one of the few counter examples...)

I was going to try the Motoz Mountain Hybrid, but, the area I ride in can get muddy at times. Then I came across these from Kenda.
K772 Parker DT. DOT approved. These will be my 90/10 tires, as in 90% off road, and 10% street.
Currently mounted are Kenda Trackmaster II's, and while they worked good off road, they wore really quick. Wasn't impressed with the grip or feel from the front either on or off road too. I'll post up a review when I get them and get a chance to try them out :-)

Still have a set of Pirelli MT-90's I can throw on for trips with my KTM990 riding buddy.
And, a set of 17's with Sport Touring rubber for road riding/commuting if needed.

Well, I was gonna try that hybrid motoz too but they sold out and weren't getting more in time for my big rally ride this past weekend. So put on a new 606 for about 400 miles of riding, some high speed hiway for maybe 100 miles and the rest really hard rocky dirt routes in Death Valley. It just works really great on and off pavement. Now if it would just last longer. The one I took off looked like it had about 3/16" knob height in the center with about 1400 miles on it. Ouch.

A 690 I rode with had TKC's and traction was kind of iffy in comparison for the hill climbs and such. Can't comment on treadlife. A couple of the 950SE guys swear by the Motoz Desert HT with MT21 front, although the rears chunk and the fronts scallop like a mutha.

Still on the hunt for the holy grail...

Would you ride this tire? Guess it doesn't really matter as this has to be one of those "eh, when in doubt throw it out" or "nuh uh- can't gamble with safety." I agree.

I decided to try a Shinko rear, about 1K ago. To be honest the thing had me pleasantly surprised- getting good wear and a decent economical all-arounder. Yesterday I noticed this cracking- and the flash (2nd shot) exposed the centerline cracking. Very disappointed. If I pull on a knob I can't peel away the knob, can't even open the cracks wider. Still a new tire down the tubes.

The sidewall code puts the manufacture date at 2/14. Providing it was stored correctly that shouldn't be old enough to have hardened/dried. I'll be reaching out to the shop that sold it to me this week to see if they'll do a swap or perhaps have to try a warranty claim with Shinko. Annoying as the shop is an hour away.

The shop will most likely ask if the tire always properly inflated.

Rightly so...and it has been. Shame though- the Shinko hasn't been bad for the riding I do. Not gonna bash the brand, but unlikely I'll replace it with another.

Hi guys, I do 80+% off road on my 630 and love the 606 rear (wish it would last longer though). I am not so sure about the 606 front. Anyone running a 606 rear, doing a lot of offroad and running a different front. If so what are your thoughts please.

Cheers

I like the Pirelli MT 21 RallyCross on the front with the 606 rear. It is a combo that works well.
I first read about it in this article when researching tires options.

I am fine with MITAS E09 Dakar 140/80/18
In Italy these tires cost 70 euro delivery at Home
