    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

TE630 Rear Sprocket and Chain Adjustment

My new-to-me 630 has a 14 tooth counter shaft sprocket and a 41 tooth rear sprocket. I counted the pins on the chain twice, 112 and 113 pins so it's probably 112. The bike is fitted with a BRP chain guide.

Questions:

1. Will a 45 tooth sprocket fit with out changing the chain? The existing sprockets and chain look like they're in excellent condition.

2. The chain adjustment bolts start to bind, on both sides, when screwing the bolts into the swing arm more than about half way, is this normal?

No you will need a new chain with more links.... When I changed out my rear sprocket to a 43 tooth Superprox, I also bought a 120 link gold chain and took off what I did not need..... Best of luck hope u enjoy ur husky as much as I have mine!!!
 
14/45 will fit if the chain is stock length. You can check if there is enough slack in the chain by:
1) Measure the length if two chain links and compare it to the length of chain adjuster used.
2) Loosen up axle and chain adjusters. Pinch four links together. If there is still sufficient chain slack with links pinched, then the 45 will fit.
 
1. Yes it will fit. I run 15/45 with stock chain length.

2. No not normal. Get some penetrating oil, spray it heavy and let it soak. Then carefully work the bolts all the way in and back out a few times. Then remove the bolts and apply anti seize compound and they should thread in by hand now. I bottom out these bolts by hand at every tire change to keep them free. If they can't go in by hand then I repeat the above process.

Is the stock chain length 112?

I worked the adjusters like SilverBullet suggested and got them to turn freely the full length.

With the adjusters working, I checked the chain slack as suggested by willie and it looked like there was enough chain slack for the 45T sprocket.

I removed the 41T and installed the 45T sprocket. All is good!
