  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Te511 - Qld -help Mechanic To Rebuild?

Satellit

Husqvarna
A Class
Hi Guys, based in Brisbane QLD Australia, I went to a never ending story with my TE511 that had a new crankshaft fitted but is now a puzzle in my garage (rolling frame and boxes of parts) and I need someone to put it back together.

Would you please be able to advise a good, honest mechanic able to finish the engine rebuild (bottom end is finished, top end needs to be fitted, engine put back in frame etc...) and get me that bike running?

I am no mechanic and cannot do it myself. I went through an ordeal with ex. Full throttle Motorcycles, Oliver's motorcycles or the Husky on the sunshine coast do not want to touch it as they work only on KTM era machines, BMW mechanic are not interested.

alternatively if no one to work on it I will wreck it... :'( a shame when entire engine bearings / seals / bottom and top are new...

thank you for your input!

Husqvarna Dealer in Lawrence Drive Nerang seem to be pretty good- or you can call this guy Rick on 0415149314 he's a good motorcycle mechanic he works from home, he worked on my Husky 310 did great work-

Hi Mark, thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. I will liaise with both and see how they can help. Cheers mate!

No worries hope you can get it sorted be a shame not to get the bike going again, Rick is probably the best person as he is honest and will dick around with things and work outside the box whereas some bike shops don't want to do anything if it's all too hard and outside the norm. He's down Beenleigh way--Cheers

Hi, haven't been on for a while, how did you get on with the build?
I have a bike mechanic mate on the Sunny coast who's built a couple of these if you are interested.

Hello,
Northside Motorcycles also works on these. They just sorted the valve clearances and map update on my TE511. Apparently they have a diagnostic tool that works on these bikes. Interestingly they tell me the bike had not been updated before, as I had paid Full Throttle to do this.

I’d be keen to know about the mech mate you have on the sunny coast. I’m up here as well.
