A Class
Just finished my first ever Finke Desert Race on the TE511, I must say, the bike went absolutely terrific all weekend. The only item requiring further attention is my racing ability, though my enjoyment factor was 10/10.
My impressions overall of the bike are very positive. I did not have one hiccup at all. The bike rode strong all weekend and had plenty of power when needed. Had a few comments from other riders when behind me (not too often did this actually happen) that it was difficult for them at times because of the amount of rocks and dust his thing threw up, it just pulls like a tractor, plenty of torque everywhere. There were 7 husky’s entered this year out of a total of 433 competitors and all finished under time except one. With the amount of dust I copped all weekend, without changing the air filter until I got home, I was quite surprised after pulling out to inspect of how clean it looked. My mate entered with his TE449 and also did not have any issues.
The race it the hardest thing I have ever done, the track is brutal with endless whoops. There is nothing that I have ever experienced that replicates the track. Through my soreness and acing pains, I will go back for another race, possibly in 2015 for the Finke 40 years.
