  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE511 Blown Torque Limiter Warranty issue

1BADDEUCE

Husqvarna
C Class
Hi everyone, this is my first post and I hate for it to be somewhat negative but it is what is and I would like some advice on a warranty subject. I bought a new 2012 TE511 in July and a month later the torque limiter bearing grenade on me leaving shrapnel in my oil and drain magnet. I had to take it back to the dealer for the warranty work which irritated me because I had to drive to Minneapolis from Lincoln Nebraska to get it fixed and now will have to drive back just to get my bike. This means two 14hr drives! My bike has been in the shop two months now and most of that time waiting on parts. The part on back order is a case gasket set and that has been 5 weeks. So far I have been waiting 8 weeks total. The first two weeks their mechanic was on vacation. Is 5 weeks for a back ordered part typical? I feel like they should add two months to my warranty. Or at the very least, offer up some accessories. I mean two months for a repair? Has anyone else dealt with lengthy repairs or called Husky to complain. Would it even do any good to complain? This is my favorite time of year to ride and I have a new bike in the shop. :banghead: ARRGGHHHH**************************************** Thanks in advance for suggestions, Rick

P.S. I love the bike otherwise and even going to pick up another new TE511 for my son when I return to pick mine up. Both bikes will be converted to a zipty valve cover vent and oil catch can as soon as they hit my garage.

Call Zipty racing in California. They know everything about this and can help.

- Just noticed your last line so I;m guessing you have already contacted them?

Oh yea, I have read plenty on the torque limiter. I will fix that issue. I just think it is BS that my bike has to sit waiting for parts this long with the remainder of my warranty running out.

parts wait have not been a common issue (depends on the part) I have never had to wait for a part that I needed/wanted- I think it depends on how common the part need is (rare)coupled with if there is a surge of demand-creating an unpredicted need.

as for the warranty- at least they are covering your issue:cheers: , beyond that all you can do is ask- I'd start with your dealer...

Have they tried to get the gasket from another dealer? If not, try calling Bills and Halls. They seem to stock lots of parts and many folks here score in similar situations. Seems weird to help them help you, but if it gets you back in the saddle quicker...

There's a dealer in Warrens WI, 3 hours away from MSP. Keytime Motorsports, Steve Roof is a good guy and may be able to help you in the future.

Heinans is not known for expediting warranty work. They are too busy getting the new bikes out the door. It took them 3 weeks to diagnose a bad radiator cap...... and that was on backorder also.
Being as they are the only dealer for miles.... I doubt hollering would help the situation much.
Good luck
