    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

TE510 Rear spring (Shock) confusion...help please.

Hi guys/girls,

I bought some bits and pieces off eBay for my 2005 TE510 (which I love).

One piece that came in the bundle is a Eibach Spring for Rear Shock p/n: 892.0063.0.

Does anybody here know if this is a same/better/worse spring than fitted as standard. I weigh around 85kg (OK 90kg with all my gear on. I'm just a trail rider, a fairly cruisey rider now. I'm 65 and had three shoulder (!!) reconstructions so cruisey is my riding style!

I'm going to be servicing rear linkage etc and will fit this spring if it is suggested. I tried Google but haven't found anything enlightening.

I have no issues with stock spring though!!

Measure the sag on your stock spring and see if it fits within the guidelines.

I am sure you can call Eibach and find out what rate that spring is. Could also measure it and use an online spring calculator, but calling them is probably a safer bet.

Based on your measured sag, you'll know if you need to change the rate from stock, and once you find out what the rate on the Eibach spring is, you'll know if it'll work for you.
 
Tiger, at your weight the stock spring should be good enough. Since you are doing the linkages etc might as well throw the new spring on and suck and see Mate.
 
I got an eibach 5.8kg spring on my 165 & it has 0058 as last numbers I think so id say its a 6.3kg mate-pretty heavy duty spring! will double check
 
That Eibach P/N 892.0063.0 makes it a 6.3 KG/mm spring, fairly heavy for your 85kg=190lb, but

for me at 210lb I used 6.4s on the back of my 310s. 6.4 got me the magic numbers 35mm static with 100mm race/rider sag (with less than 10mm preload on the spring).

You should be in the right area just do the numbers test.

(And just because I used a 6.4 doesnt mean your 6.3 wont be right, you are putting it on a different bike/different linkage)
once those balance numbers are correct you have your valve set up to dampen effectively. First order is to get the ride height/balance correct (with proper spring rate)
