  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Te510 gas tank

AA Class
Just wondering what you guy’s recommend for a larger gas tank. I have a 09 te510, mainly a woods rider with the small commutes on the road. I have read some good and not so good things about the IMS 3.0 from justgastanks, also I read that it’s better to go with the translucent tank versus the black. Just trying to search for some alternate opinions of what you guys think.

The IMS 3.0, you might have to work with it to seal up possible gas leak around the fuel pump flange plate.
I'll second that, the IMS is really the right size for most, it may eventually leak at the pump but can pretty easily be fixed. I've got both the IMS and Safari (the only 2 choices you have), the IMS is on the bike most of the time, good range and does not affect cooling. The Safari, for me, is for long dual sport rides when I need to make long stretches between fuel stops, it does block some airflow and makes the bike run a little hotter during slow technical riding but is fine for fast riding.

What could I put around the fuel pump to seal it? I have some rubber roofing material, real thin but strong as hell, wondering if I could make a gasket to forge around it. I want to be able to pull the fuel pump out again so I wouldn't wana put a bead of silicon around it.

I would use nothing unless you spring a leak. Permatex #2 (I think, the black, non-hardeneing sealant) is what I used, after using a file to get the mating surface flat again. The problem I think is from engine heat warping the plastic where the pump bolts on, it doesn't happen to everyone.
