  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE510 and TE511

Hi All,

Long time reader, first time poster.

Decided to turn my 08 TE510 into super motard after getting my TE511.

Next step is JD X03 for the 510, and power commander V for 511, and then off to the local dyno for tuning and results: how will they compare?

Note that Motosportz and JD now have the X6 box for the 511.... Ordered mine Friday ...

Yeah, as luck would have it, I had already ordered the Power Commander before the Motosportz thread on the X6.
Depending on the results between the 510 and 511, I may still end up getting the X6 as well.

B&B are and Aussie company.
Love the bikes just look absolutely fabulous.
Keen to hear the Dyno results

The 510 will smoke the 511, thats my prediction. The 511 has a much smoother and in many way IMHO better motor but the 510 makes more raw power. I greatly perfer the 511 platform for what i do but the 510 makes some POWER. The 08 TXC510 is a flat out ripper.

Hey Smooman, why was it necessary to buy another bike, when you could simply switch wheels back and forth on the 510? It's cool that you have two 500 cc Huskies, but would you of been happier with a second bike of another configuration?

To be honest mate; I spent more time fixing the 510 than riding it. Yes it has a great engine. But the rest of the package left me a little disappointed.
The straw that broke this camels back was when I was out riding with my son a long way from nowhere and it broke down again; misfiring (coil terminals, now soldered connections).

I have 26 hours and 520 kilometres on the 510. 'Twas not reliable.

The 511? Has not missed a beat since the beginning. I got it as the "reliable" replacement to the 510.

There's also the 2 smoker as well........

Motosportz, I agree.
The 510 is just an animal from 4-7000. I really miss that with the 511.
But the 511 IMHO eats it down low, it has more snap off the bottom; proper fueling is the difference.
However the 511 asthmatically wheezes its way to the rev limit whereas the 510 loved to rev. That's the main reason why I wanted to tune the FI; moreso after reading your comments about the X6 tuner and the "lean" top end.

I intended on gearing the 511 down to 47 on the rear, fire trails and 5th gear rev limit with no high rpm power wasn't enjoyable with the 51 rear.
The 511 has received a few negative reviews due to this; short gearing with a wheezy top end makes for a lot of gear changes.

Anyone know if the TE511 rad guards will fit the SMR511?

There don't seem to be any aftermarket parts for the SMR. :(
