  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE450....a good choice!

Five years, four sets of replacement tires, 18 oil changes, 9 oil filter changes, 9,000 miles, 400 hours, one valve adjust. Turned out to be a very good trail bike investment.

A solid motor, no doubt about it, you guys are easy on tires! How many batteries?
The stock one lasted 4 years. I put in a cheapie in the summer of 2011....it took a dump this summer, so I put in an AMG. There were 3 fork seal replacements along the way also.

I can't believe I'm on my stock battery. 9/06 was purchase date on 07 TE 450. Never been hooked up to a tender. I've had to charge it a couple times.
I have replaced the big end bearing tho, not preventive maintenance either. I just recently had my radiators fail. Purchased a new set from GPI for $93 delivered. I'll report on how well they hold up. They look way better, thicker than the stock Alexeon ones. Lots of tires, chains, sprockets, couple sets of fork seals and wheel bearings, but just now changing my first set of rear brake pads, fronts are stock and look good. One valve adjustment.

Oh yeah, 07 TE 450, 8000 miles.

Yeah, my Alexons have gone by the wayside too, as well as normal wear items like brake pads, sprockets and chains, etc., but that engine has gone the distance so far.

A little noisy then got real noisy before the thunk. Nothing unusual in oil changes either. At about 5500 miles.
