  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE449 Tank/Tail Bags

56on449

Husqvarna
AA Class
I am now riding in the desert and am looking for a way to carry tools/tubes/fuel bottles extra, with out buying a huge back pack (or back pack and waist tool kit) to carry all required on my body which I find very cumbersome when trying to ride new terrain.

Has any one else found any luggage that is TE449/511 specific?

Moose Racing offers a fender bag, but they tend to disappear in the desert. I wear both the fanny pack and a back pack when I ride. I deffinitely would like to off load some weight, but I haven't found a reliable way to hold a fender pack on.

Yes, Moose makes some cool Tail Bags. Had one on my 610 w/OEM rear rack. So I was browsing Rocky Mountain one day and saw a newer
Moose Tail Bag that was removable w/velcro. I ordered one for my 511 not even thinking about the funky rear fender. So anyway, it wasn't going to
work so I ended up throwing it in the deal to the guy who bought my 610. I gave him two Moose Tail Bags, one brand new and the original one plus
a very nice Cortech Sequoia Tail Bag that I bought from TCI when I got their Borrego Rear Rack. Dude scored big time.
So, for me the best solution that I'm very happy with is a $40 Camel Pack/ nice backpack that I bought at Walmart. It's got plenty of pockets to carry
what I need plus it's a hydration pack too. I carry only one tool with me which is one of those Stockton Tool Co. all in one multi-tools. It covers just about
everything for minor repairs. For tools there are those front fender packs that look pretty cool.

One could strap a fender bag to the front of the seat on the 449/511. I doubt it would bounce as bad as the front fender, wouldn't get in the way of the light either.

Yep, this would be a real good solition...

The mount on this one straps on and the bag Velcros off. They make this one with permanent straps as well.

I use this Wolfman Enduro Tank Bag on the front section of my seat (TE449) It works great and doesn't seem to get in my way at all. It straps on very securely. Good quality bag.

Storage over comfort is a challenge ;) Rider creativity works

This combo worked out well. Goal was to balance the weight and keep it off my body. Front and rear tube in front fender bag with tire tools (Cut slits in fender for straps), Socket set, wrenches, First aid, Food, Water, air pump, survival stuff and much more. Ogio Vest was about 10 -12 lbs with 3 bottles of water and I split the heavy tools in the rear little pack by the tanks and number plate bag. Extra fuel worked out great. My front moose bag ripped open in the first 20 miles of the ride in the whoops. The bungee cords worked well the rest of my trip:)

Two tubes in the front fender bag will block part of your light. Was not bad for me I spent 1 hour in the desert night riding stock light.

The 'right' answer seems to vary with exact desires/trade offs.

Personally I bought a trailer to pull behind my bike which will work well for my particular situation.

Sometime ago I seen a post on Cafehusky about cutting slots in the fender just enough to slip the straps around. Works great on the front fender bag. One tube in the bag works great. Two Tubes (front and rear) block part of the headlight

THANKS TO ALL! :applause: For all the great suggestions, this gives me lots of options to consider. I think I will start with a tank bag and doggie saddle bags.

I second the Wolfman Enduro bag. I could not get a bag to stay on the rear fender with just the hooks. Wolfman has a rear fender bag tht looks promising and I would also like to get the saddle bags for long self supported trips'
The tank bag mounts really solid. I t does not move at all no matter how fast or how many whoops you hit.

I've had success using roto pax fuel cells attached to my rear fender. I can stack 2 one gallon cells or 1 two gallon and 1 one gallon cell. It's held up on rides too.

The Wolfman product has been holding up. The TE subframe extends through some of the rear fender. As you can see from what some people do there is quite a bit of heft on some fenders.
front innertube is on the front fender. (Use for front or back tire)
Front of seat bag is usually light tools, cell phone, cable and lock and c02 cartridges.
Rear fender is all tools.

I like your set up. The tank bag looks to hold lots of stuff. Do you find that it gets in the way when you want to slide up near the steering stem?

It depends on your belly. At 280 I do notice it at times. I definitely would not want it any larger, If you moto it comes off in a few seconds. I will typically go on 2 day rides and take the hard ways.
