• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Te449 Steering dampener / Stabiliser

Who has a steering dampener fitted to there TE449 and what brand, type etc

Are you happy with it etc etc.

Also where to purchase at a good price, the only one fitted to a Te449 I have seen is a Scotts and he got it from the USA

ps I am in Australia (Oz)

The MotoSportz one is fairly popular on CH due to it's price and features, otherwise I've seen a GPR, a scotts and an Ohlins SD2.1 on various SMR and TE/TC 449/511's.

The Motorsportz damper is very good and you can't beat it for the money. Without going into technical details, the device functions to keep you steering straight. Personally I run the Scotts, but it is expensive and complicated allowing for professional high speed adjustment. I highly do not recommend the new Ohlins dampers for off road. GPR is okay, but has generic operation.

I really like the look and fitment of the motosportz and I do like the simple adjustment but from what i am hearing the scotts are the proven bullet proof unit that everyone that rides recommends. Thanks for the help and I think I will go the scotts from my local shop where he can supply warranty, service and set up advice. Does not seam like much of a saving when you include postage etc for around $600 I can get the scotts under-bar from my local shop

I run the Motosportz and it works great. :) Rode my buddies 165 back to back with my 165, nearly identical bikes but mine had a stabilizer, he is getting a stabilizer from me, the difference is huge.

Will the Motosportz work with my Highway dirtbike handguard setup? I have the tall lower clamp and sxdx top clamp for fatbars.

Yes on the 310, looks exactly like the kit in the picture above (except black not red). Yes raises the bar height a little over half an inch.

Ive had two MSC, one on a wr300 and now the Te250. I think its great, a bit pricey.
I would of got the motosportz, but didn't have one to fit the wr300 at the time.

Ok local bike said for my bike not 600 for scotts dampener its now 837 dollars due to needing new tripple clamps, also there was a Oz dealer for motorsportz in brisbane I was trying to track down but after a bit more research it looks like he is no longer trading

I have now sent an email to Motorsportz usa to find out how much for the underbar unit to fit 2013 te449 delivered to victoria Australia and I would also like to know what happens if I need warranty? maybe I need to distribute these in Oz?

Got your Email and replied. The OZ dist is no more, just disappeared one day. One of the guys that was working there (Rex / national champ) is still doing some distribution for me but only for KTM bikes. I got your Email and replied with several shipping options. Thanks for your interest. No BS policy, its broke we fix it free. I will also send extra parts for free for you so you have some spares if need be.

thanks

Tell your local bike shop that they are idiots. All you need is a scotts/brp submount and the damper/collar. The scotts is very complicated to set up the right way anyway.

I would recommend the Motosportz damper for you anyway, it's just easier to setup and it works. Just pm Kelly here: Motosportz

Ok I am not getting your emails just checked my inbox and spam I will pm Motorsportz a few email options

I found your email now and have replied please send me the pay pay request money for the 60 dollar shipping and I will get one of your units.

have not worked out how to pm on this forum is it start conversation??
