  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

te449 hot start and idling issue

does anyone have any info on a diagnostic tool for the te449. will the gs911 tool for bmw,s work for this bike. if not ,which will and where can i purchase it. how much?

Mine (2008 Husqvarna 450 TE i.e.), also requires a small amount of throttle, but on cold starts. Otherwise, without the small amount of throttle, I have popping/detonations and no start. I took out the spark plug and it's black.
I've checked the fuel pump, fuel filter, injector, and everything ok.
But I can not start the engine without a small amount of throttle, and after it starts, the idle is fluctuating between 1650 - 2300 rpm.

Has the secondary butterfly been removed? Reason I ask is that I tried remove mine with map 3 caused all kinds of surging and stalling reinstalled all went back to normal. Awhile back I ran into a new issue while out riding bike would die not start until throttle body did it's r2 d2 thing then would start but die or sputter very frustrating spent days trouble shooting and it literally was the ground at the back of the transmission. Fyi butterfly was a success with pcv installed!

Interesting you had issues with the butterfly on Map 3.

Heaps of bikes on our FB group (mine included) on map3 and no butterfly. Possibly the start of your earth issue perhaps, and just a coincidence.

finally got bike back from 2nd shop i left it at (about 175 miles from home ...these bikes not popular in n.y.!!!) it was a combination of fuel pump and ignition coil. what a nightmare . hopefully NO MORE ISSUES!:banghead::D
