  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE449-511 Key Switch

Just got mine in today. Quick install, probably took 10 minutes and works great! I like the fact the key is the ATV style to keep the elements out. Makes me a "little" less worried parking it somewhere in town. I can post pics if anyone would like them. pretty straightforward install.

What a pita!! Glad the Aussie bikes don't come set up like that

The 2013 (and maybe 2012) aussie delivered bikes have an hydraulic pressure switch on the clutch, whereas the '11's don't Saw it at the dealers and wondered wtf it was, also noticed they've changed the reservoir lid on the '13's to mention DOT 5.1 fluid compatibility,

Wow, must be new on the 13's but i really can't comment on the '13's as i haven't owned one yet, but my 12 310 didn't come with a pressure switch on the clutch.
Now that i think about it before i rode Huskys i had a Yamaha wr250f that you had to pull the clutch in to start it, but that could be by passed by cutting the cable to the switch and joining the two wires together

Installed the key switch yesterday. Easy and straightforward. Rode ~40 miles yesterday and it works great!

It disengages the starter button. So when the key is off and you hit the starter it does nothing. You turn the key on and you still have to hit the starter to get the dash to come up and the pump to prime. If you turn the key off while it is running it will shut off and the dash will stay on for a bit just like when you hit the kill button.

Okay, so it just goes inline with the wiring to the starter and kill button then, cool, that's an easy fix. Mine is basically wired like that now. Since I had mine installed, Wayne Martin @ Malcolm Smith's has installed a Husky key ignition that turns the computer on, the efi, the pilot light headlight as well as an efi reset. I'm not sure what is involved in all that but I am going to feed 12v through my ignition to run a secondary computer and other accessories.

I'm very interested in this. Does it fit in the stock location?

Yes, it does. It comes with instructions and is very easy to install. Just drill out the cap in the stock location, and plug it in. Lancaster, there is really nothing to the install. Very straight forward. As for pictures, the finished product looks just like a 2011 with a stock keyed ignition.
