    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi guys,

I have been searching the internet for chain guards for our bikes to replace the flimsy plastic one that comes as standard. So far I have only found one option and that is a Touratech Aluminium item.

$57 seems pretty reasonable but they don't post to Australia (no good for me)

So I went to the Touratech Australia web site.

$199!! For the exact same product! WTH!
At that crack price it should be made out of Unicorn Horn!

Has anyone come across an alternative brand chain guard?
 
:eek: :banghead: That is just unbelievable!! No wonder so many Aussies buy online from over seas.
Maybe someone on here can buy it and send it to you :excuseme:
 
I've bought a bunch of stuff from Touratech US, but I've had to use a freight forwarding company (shipito, myus etc.) keep in mind shipping can be horrendous at times so get a few things at once!
 
I thought that might have been the case. I still can't get my head around the huge mark up for us aussies.
I can understand some price adjustments but ~200% is a bit rich.
 
Look at OEM Husky parts, half price in the US, or even less at times. My clutch slave cylinder was $85 + postage ($120 total), $175 here and no ETA. I had it in under a week from over the seas... OEM oil filters are $21 OS, $40 here.

Best example was TC cams, $500 delivered (at the time, dollars gone south since, so maybe $575 now?) from OS, or if I wanted to go without lube..... $1200 here.

EDIT: The parts guy over here knows I get my stuff via other means, doesn't like it (obviously) but completely understands why. Still see the dealer for consumables, accessories and log book servicing though.

Sorry my last post was immature.

The stock chain guard would have to be my least favourite thing on my bike.
It naturally sits on an angle and no amount of adjusting or warming it up with a heat gun will get it straight.

As Caiman said it is a legal requirement for on road going motorcycles to have a chain guard.

Just seeing if there are other hidden options out there other then our ridiculously priced AU Touratech one.
