  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Te410e 1999 Gas leak out of the carburetor

MC Dig

Husqvarna
A Class
Hi I have a 1999 Te410e I had the bike stored for six months. Before I left I drained the gas out of the carburetor using the little 6mm hex head screw on the left side of the carb. I also disconnected the line from the reserve switch/valve/petcock on the left side of the bike. To get the bike going again, I closed the hex head screw on the carb, added gas, then reconnected the fuel line (gas spilled everywhere I forgot that I had taken that line off) I went now to put gas in and now gas is leaking out of what looks like an overflow tube coming out of the top of the carb. I am wondering why this is happening and what I can do about it.
Below is a picture, the red arrow is pointing to the metal fitting coming out of the carb and you can see the black tube coming out of that, I marked that with a red line.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, also the service manual lists the motor oil capacity on the bike at 2 liters, but if I put two liters in the sight glass is totally covered, do i use the sight glass or put 2 liters in?

Ok, thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

Could be the needle valve attatched to the float is not making a good seal. have seen this before and have fixed with a new needle and o rings.

Ok, thankyou very much for the responses.

The choke is already off, so I wish it was that, but unfortunately not.

Could it be that the float is stuck open? The fuel does not just drip, it just pours out of that little tube as fast as it can, it seems like nothing is holding it back. Would it run with the float stuck open? The other thing is that if the tank only has fuel in the reserve side, it does not leak. So maybe with less volume there is less pressure or something? Ok, thanks again for any further ideas.

Ok, problem solved. The choke was closed, then I toggled it back and forth a couple of times and it is fine.

Thank you all so much for the help.

Any thoughts on oil quantity for the bike? Should I put in 2 liters or go by the sight glass?

i suggest you still replace your float valve.your fix is probably temporary.it will probably leak again if the float valve is not replaced.dan.

I had a leaking float valve that filled crank case with gas and the next time i went for a ride the con rod came through the side of the case. Not good. It was not a Husky it was a Norton.
