  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE310R Maximum revs?

AlwynMike

Husqvarna
A Class
OK people, bear with me on this one please - it may be a Newbie question, or something that nobody else is bothered about.

I've just ordered a new TE310R
Being (very) old fashioned (OK, just old will do), I do want a rev counter on the bike.
Not a problem, thanks to Trail Tech.

The issue is - I cannot find anywhere on the net the maximum engine speed for these bikes - or at least the maximum power engine speed. The nearest I could find was a dyno graph on the Akrapovic site from a 2009/10 bike. Now, this is probably near enough for me, but I'd like a more definitive figure for my engine.

Has anyone got any "official" paperwork that states the max revs??

Husqvarna UK won't tell me: quote from the e-mail

it is company policy not to publish this sensitive data as regards engine performances

I will probably never reach these sort of revs - in the 2 years with my CRF250, I've not come within 1000 rpm of max, but I like to know. I'm a bit anal like that.

Can anyone help me with this???

Thanks
Mike

They won't tell you the max rpm before the rev limiter starts to operate? That sounds a bit weird. They certainly did on my 2006 TE250, though I do not recall for sure what that is.

Keep in mind I do not have that bike (x-lite).

Are you sure there is not one on the original dash? My 2010 has one but it can't be displayed the same time as speed.

Twist the throttle as fast as you can for a couple seconds to see how far up the revs go? People say they can rev to 12000rpms but my 2010 TE250 revs to about 9500..or at least how much I dare to pin it for a second.. and the rev limiter that most people or dealerships disgard limit revs to 6500 I do believe..

This PDF says 9900 for the 2012 TE310. Not sure how "official" this is tho

Thanks for that Boogie, but I'm now more confused, as the numbers don't really add up.
I can cope with the 65mph@8950rpm
But the rev limiter at 9900rpm works out at around 72mph max with the 65mph figures, and they quote 78mph max. And the Standing 1/4 terminal speed at 81mph means it would be revving at over 11000rpm
So much for the rev limiter being set at 9900rpm!!

Still, at that, 55mph maximum cruise seems comfortable, even if I gear it down a tooth on the gearbox sprocket (8180rpm using the 65mph figure above as a reference)

As for the rev counter, it seems the '13 models don't have one! Hence the Trail Tech.

I don't intend ever coming near the rev limiter, even in anger!!

Thanks for the replies
Mike

BTW, when I asked Husqvarna UK if the warranty would cover engine damage due to over-revving, as they wouldn't say what the maximum revs were, the reply was so non-committal as to be non-existent. Seems like Husqvarna UK have been taking lessons from BMW UK cars Customer Service, as that is garbage too!

On my 2010 TE250, I don't feel comfortable sustaining the revs above 6500 rpms for extended periods of time.. Small engine, small oil capacity = lots of heat... I think that pdf was referencing the 'power up mode' revs.. which aren't really sustainable but fine with quick bursts, but if you are cruising or whatever, I keep it below 6500rpms with bursts above to get back up to speed. Plus, on my TE model, it vibrates like a sonofagun.

I'm pretty sure, at least on my 2010 TE250, it had a factory rev limiter which prevented exceeding 6500-7000 rpms - so a safe bet would be to keep it around there for sustainability.

Just my 2 cents. Enjoy the ride, I heard the 2013 310R's are very fun bikes!

Completely honest, on my 2010 TE250 - I have ridden it for two and a half years, pinned revs and never seen past 4 digits.. I don't know if it's just my bike or odometer is off.. peak power is right around 7,500 on my bike. But in comparison to what I've heard, guess my bike is the egg- it is completely uncorked - screen in exhaust taken out and all

The one I had a test ride on did vibrate badly at about 40mph - and I mentioned this to the owner who hadn't really noticed it. Getting back on the CRF, through a 40mph limit and guess what - the CRF vibrates badly at that speed too! I'd just got used to it I suppose.
Vibes through the bars were very little, but butt vibes were noticeable!

As far as the test ride was concerned - I was out with a couple of mates in Derbyshire on Sunday. We met another group when fuelling up. I got talking to this guy - Simon - and he offered me his bike for a ride. Seriously! So I took it up the road for a bit, and placed the order the following day. Thanks Simon!!

I've seen over 10,800 rpm's in 6th gear for a second or so time from my 2011 TE310.
L.

I can't remember exactly where I read it but if memory serves the redline is 13.5k. I've been close to 11k a couple of times on my '10 TE 250

My 2010 has seen over 11,000 rpm countless times, probably every time I race. It's got over 2000 miles on the clock of which 90% are racing. If I didn't race then yes, I would probably keep well below the limiter but during racing you have to push it to it's limits especially on such a small bore bike. No damage or any issues with the motor as yet but there's still half a seasons racing left!!
