  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE310R engine cuts out

Allan Briscoe

Husqvarna
AA Class
I went on a trail ride recently and has I was riding at around 80KMPH and coming up to a corner I pulled the clutch in and the engine cut out and as I run a rekluse clutch it wont restart by just dropping the clutch so I pulled up to a stop and tried to restart the engine with the starter motor but the engine just turned over and no start. I then used the kick starter and the engine fired up straight away. The bike did it twice durring the day and started both times with the kick starter but then was fine for the next day of riding. I have about 7500 km on the bike now and have never had this problem before. Any ideas out there?

how's you're idle? I'd get it above 2000rpm.

In fact (and I don't know that this is doable) I would maybe set your idle high (2000+) and your rekluse engagement low (~1500). I am not a rekluse expert though.

take your manifold or your airboot off and take a peak at the intake tract; just to make sure your air bypass/cold start passage and throttle butterfly aren't too gunked up.

Thanks trench coat I am riding again this weekend so will have a look at your suggestions.

Wouldn't that mean the inability to idle at a standstill? The clutch would always be engaged while the bike is running.

probably not.

if the bike will idle at 1500rpm no-load (most will, i think), then in gear, idle should bounce between "loading/pulling the bike" back down to "release the centrifugal clutch" before the engine stalls.

or you could put it into neutral. or pull the clutch lever in- if equipped.

Just an update the bike hasn't cut out again on recent rides so it is a bit of a mistery for now. I will post if i find out the cause.

Check all your wiring up in the front of the headlight. I have had two failed wires right in that area in the past couple years. They seem to fail inside the plugs. You can push the old barrels inside the connectors out, re-crimp a new barrel on the wire and then re-insert it into the connector if this is the case.
