  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE310R Dirt Tamer Throttle

Husqvarna
A Class
After the best part of a year of indecision, I eventually bought a G2 Ergonomics Dirt Tamer throttle.

One of the negative points of the bike, for my riding (and lack of riding skills) was the on-off nature of the throttle. I do mostly slow, technical trails, and I have been uncomfortable with riding just off the throttle stop, where progress has been jerky to say the least - as I hit a bump, my right hand twitches, and the bike either surges forward or stops! This was also noticeable on long, slippery downhills, where engine braking is required - any throttle twitch makes for jerky progress.

So, with the Tamer bought from G2, via Rutmonkey (a week to get from the States to the UK is better than our internal post at times!!), fitted with a heated grip ready for the winter, I was out on the trails.

Initial impressions were that it had made no difference - but I was riding on the road, with significant throttle openings, so I should have expected that! On the slow, nadgery stuff, it has made a big difference - the on-off is still there, but greatly reduced, and my progress is now much smoother.

Overall, well worth the outlay for me, with my riding habits and style. For someone who is more press-on, or on faster trails, it wouldn't be any use though.

Hey mike, I just put one on my 04 te250, helped me too. At first I got the tamer only, then I got the "400 cam" which made even more improvement.
