  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I can't seem to narrow the choice between the two. I can't resist the great prices. I will pull the trigger next week. I will be riding desert and mountain terrain. Southern California deserts and Colorado mountains around Fort Collins and Loveland area.

No racing, just having some fun. Single track work. I need some help making the choice.

Thanks.

I've ridden both extensively and like the 449/511 better. Slightly bigger and heavier but much less issues and a great do it all bike. I have used mine for over 5000 miles of gnarly single track to 190 mile dual sport rides. The 310 is a nice bike too but the 449/511 seems more reliable, very few issues and much more versatile. If i was racing tighter stuff would pick the 310.

It really comes down to you from a riding preference, your physicality and where you ride. If you are an average rider looking to do tight single track then the 310 might be preferable. If you are skilled and on the larger size the 449 might take the ascendancy. I am on a 310 for the tight stuff but wish I had my old 450's and 510 for the open fire trails and wide but steep climbs we have. Clearly no perfect bike, just go for the one best suited to the bulk of your riding requirements. It is a sweet dilemma you are having with a great out come either way. Carpe diem
