Hi,
New to the forum and had a good look through pages related to my problem. Can’t find an exact answer and looking for some overall help,
The back story, I have bought a project bike as a non runner. It was stripped partially to diagnose a poor running scenario and never put back together. I have subsequently put it back together and tried to start. I can confirm I have compression, and a spark and if a splash of fuel is put over the air filter it will fire and run very briefly.
However when the injector is connected it will not run.
I have decided that’s it’s most likely one of the following problems, in order of likelihood from
How I see it?
1. Fuel injector blocked
2. Insufficient fuel pressure
3. Insufficient pulse from ecu to injector
1. Injector issue, Does anyone have a part number for the performance (more than 6 hole injector) injector as that is what’s fitted currently. When connected to the fuel system and removed from the TB i can feel it pulse but no fuel comes out. Blocked or not enough pressure I would assume.
2. Fuel pressure - if the rail is removed and put to the side, when turning over there is fuel coming out of the hose as expected. How would you test for pressure or diagnose a poor pressure regulator? Pump is live when connected to the wiring harness. Where would I buy a new pump and pressure regulator?
3. Injector pulse - this is a new one for me, I have constant live to the red side of the plug (plug to neg battery on a test light) , but when connected to the pulse side and live battery nothing. Connected between the plug terminals I get a ver dim flash. I assume this is due to the speed of the pulse rather than the supply so would assume this is fine? Any tips to further check?
Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.
