• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC TE300-wow are dealers proud of their bikes

And on top of that some places such as Camino Cielo from SB to Santa Ynez is restricted to plated bikes as are many National Forest Roads so it is in any manufacturers interest to have a 50 state legal version of their off road bikes for the big state of CA and elsewhere.

Correct! Same thing on the Forest Service roads in Santa Clarita. I have happily ridden that road for work on Broadcast Peak. Yep... gettin paid to ride the Husky without the factory BS!

I'm not sure who you dealt with, but I bought my 125 from Williamsport Honda / Husky and couldn't have been happier with the way I was treated. I dealt with Andy and Broc and they were both great. Without trying to sound like an advertisement, I felt like I was buying from enthusiasts that were just as into the sport as I am. I can and do recommend them.
I guessing not with Andy or Broc. I'm sure I'll buy another one in the future and give them a try again.

We bought two bikes that day and it was to be a "let's check them out" day...

I just bought a TE300 from these guys in Fife. http://www.larsonpowersportsnorthwest.com . I paid msrp plus tax, license and $150 doc fee. They did drop the setup and freight fees. Saved about $800 or so. I tried to get it for msrp out the door but I guess I'm not the best negotiator. And I guess they need to make a profit. They are new to selling bikes, mostly cars, (Russell Wilson does their commercial (GO HAWKS!) ) boats and other motorized toys. I only saw the one te300 though several others. I didn't ask if they had more.

I rode it Sunday and WOW what a bike! I felt at home on it right away, but suspension was a little harsh for the first several miles, but is breaking in nicely now. Rear is now very good and forks also pretty good, but a bit harsh for the first few inches. ( I weigh about 180 plus gear). Big hits on whoops are soaked up nicely on both ends. I was told the fork works best with the comp clicker out (soft) all the way, so will try it this weekend.

Good luck on finding your new bike, HR!

Thanx, its in the garage now, to the frame and checking/greasing/bolting on required kit and bits now!

With all its 'issues' Washington state does allow us to plate offroad bikes if we get them into pretty much street legal configuration and have them inspected by a state certified shop. Then you have to re-title it (tax $$) and MUST maintain both plates(tax $$) AND off road tags(tax $$) or loose the plate.
Each year you renew your license plate tabs and your ORV tabs. (tax $$)

But I have a plate on my CRF-250x and anything else I want to (TE300 or ???).

I used to have a CR500AFX that was CA plated but it got stolen. I purchased a 2016 Husqvarna TE300 and trying to figure a way to plate my bike in any state.

Looked and emailed dealers today on prices for the 300
$700-$900 "setup and prep" on top of full MSRP and full doc fees etc
When I asked so for the prep fee I won't have to lube the bearings and go through things for set up etc, no answer each time and magically another customer just showed up and they had to leave.
LOL
So how is MS in Southern Cal to deal with
I'm in western washington, no issues shipping a bike here.....

Thoughts anyone?

Thanx!!

HR

I see a couple of guys were saying Malcolm Smith has changed. I could see that. Malcolm is not in the shop much any more. I had bought quite a few bike from him, BUT..... It was from Malcolm himself. I've known him sense just before On Any Sunday was released. My avatar is a 75 CR250GP from his shop when it was a modded gas station. So mine opinion would be... find a shop you feel you can trust.... Because you will need them if anything goes astray.... On another past business owner note.... Everyone wants a deal. And I get that.... But unless you support them, why should they help you out?? Really! Just saying. I see this a lot, everyone wants to buy crap off the net, but the net can't fix your bike or install it for you if you are having problems. Even youtube has it's limitations..... Good luck with your Husky!! I really like mine and living in AZ can pretty much ride it anywhere. I don't miss CA and look forward to be putting many miles here****************************************

I bought my Husky from MS in riverside and things have changed since then. They have obviously gone a little insane. They had a leftover 13TXC 250 sitting next to a new 15 FE350s for $8750 before tax and license! The FE was $11, 257 before tax and license.

I was amazed that a 2 year old left over husky was the same price as new YZ250fx! They must think people are dumb enough to think they can get away with crap like that. The salesman I asked about throwing my leg over the YZfx had no idea it was any different from a standard YZ.

Walked out shaking my head...sad

Were you living in Castaic, CA when you bought your Husky? I'm only asking because the dealer there in Castaic was where I should have bought mine. Very helpful and was going to give me a pretty good deal. My wife didn't know my workings with them so she bought it some where else for my birthday.

Jet Worlds great, but he wasn't carrying bikes yet. He's a fellow D37 racer and I plan on giving him the first shot at my business soon.

Bring us $8899 and you'll leave with a TE300, an MCO, and a bill of sale.

No freight/setup/doc fees. The only fees we charge are the applicable DMV fees. Being in Washington, that's on you to do when you get home.

That's how it should be Jonxx..... So many of these "newer" dealers came in when the industry was doing crappy and came from the car industry where its OK to charge for that crap.....

Glad there is still good guys out there.....

Make no mistake though...The factory really REAALLY wants us to charge freight and setup. They make it very difficult not to. On the 2017 EFI models they've locked the ECU's in such a way that we'll have to spend an extra hour or so for each bike to connect and unlock them.

Poppycock.

When I was a dealer in early 2000s I just considered a price of doing business.... figured I's make the money on the stuff they bolted on to it..... I sold with the correct jetting installed, and bolted everything they wanted on with no labor..... creates loyal customers....
