• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC TE300-wow are dealers proud of their bikes

hawaii-rider

Husqvarna
AA Class
Looked and emailed dealers today on prices for the 300
$700-$900 "setup and prep" on top of full MSRP and full doc fees etc
When I asked so for the prep fee I won't have to lube the bearings and go through things for set up etc, no answer each time and magically another customer just showed up and they had to leave.
LOL
So how is MS in Southern Cal to deal with
I'm in western washington, no issues shipping a bike here.....

Thoughts anyone?

Thanx!!

Not all but a lot of dealers do charge a freight and setup fee. With shipping etc you may not save much...resale may be better then the firesale huskys...those days are gone...more then likely this new husky is my last bike unless gas gas loses ten more pounds or I ride a beta and love it....it is kind of funny my wife's new dodge dart with a hundred thousand mile warranty was 15000 so a third more then a few of those ktms or husky . Looks like a comparable Japanese bike can be had for one to two thousand less... A uses low hour bike is really the way to go...in 2013 my buddy got a 2011 gas gas six days 300,for $5000 with like no time on it looked brand new....that's a lot better then 8500!!!

I too live in western Washington and I bou my TC 250 from L&D Racetech in Warrenton Oregon. Only paid $75 doc fee with no freight or setup fees. Don is a no BS kinda guy. BTW my bike listed for $7299 and I left there financing $7400

Call Moto Forza Husky -ask for James- Been setting up people with great deals- and ship anywhere. PM me and I'll put you in touch with him

Also I know they have a leftover 14 TE250 that is lots $$$$ off MSRP- Can convert it to a 300 and still save money.. K I'm done plugging my favorite dealer :D

I don't know what your sales tax is in Washington but in California it's quite high. I think you may pay more for a new bike in Cali than oregon, no sales tax. Unless you buy used from a private party even a used bike from a dealer you'll pay license fees also.

This is a good point. I've also found that prices in general are much higher in California. When I was looking at buying my TE511 it pissed me off that the local bikes were always $1000 - $1200 more than the same bike just over the border. Problem is that if you buy out of state, you still have to pay for shipping which for a bike can cost over $600. I don't think its a problem in OP's case, being that he lives int WA, but I could never get an answer as to if I would even be able to register an out of state purchased bike in California.

Yeah it sucks, sometimes it's an issue, depends on vin number mostly...green or red off road sticker? Really? Then you still have to pay tax on purchase price and license fees on/off road. When looking at my last bike 14 yz450 a large dealer in northern oregon was selling them for $6999 otd, I ended up paying over a grand more here in good old california and it was mostly tax and license. In the end I would of paid that anyway when I brought it home and drove 11 hours to and from oregon.

I bought my Husky from MS in riverside and things have changed since then. They have obviously gone a little insane. They had a leftover 13TXC 250 sitting next to a new 15 FE350s for $8750 before tax and license! The FE was $11, 257 before tax and license.

I was amazed that a 2 year old left over husky was the same price as new YZ250fx! They must think people are dumb enough to think they can get away with crap like that. The salesman I asked about throwing my leg over the YZfx had no idea it was any different from a standard YZ.

Walked out shaking my head...sad

Bills and L&D are both top dealers and semi local to you (within a day trip driving) . As far as freight the dealer does pay this and is a cost to them so that seems reasonable to me. Setup? Well that should be included if you ask me and ridiculous to charge for.

I have NO issues paying a fair price for my bikes and on popular machines you expect to pay close to if not AT retail - I get that and accept it.

why?
cause it will sell at that price and the dealer has to pay bills and salary etc.
I prefer to support local dealers and my local area where I live, I do, but not when its $1000 + more than I can get elsewhere. (in my case its looking like $2400 more)

What I won't do is make sympathy purchases or deal with dealers that have a position that "this bike is hot, I will tag $$4-600 EXTRA on top of MSRP and my costs and gouge folks".
Its their choice if they want to, but it speaks volumes to this old soldier about character and how they - the dealership, views their community.
Didn't support gun dealers that did it during the ammo/firearm scare and i will never do with motorcycles.
there was a dealer north of me that did it to me every time I went into his shop and asked for a price on a machine (cost + HUGE mark ups), that dealer closed last fall - always wondered how he stayed in business with that "position", but it was his shop and his to do, price etc as he saw fit. I also have no idea why he closed the doors and never wished him ill etc and even sent folks to his store, he just never got any of my $$$.

But at the end of the day its my money, and I will spend it where I see fit.
:)

If I buy a bike out of state and have it shipped to Washington, I won't have to pay the purchasing state's tax, but when I register it here in Washington state and get tags for it, I will have to pay a "use fee" (isn't that special) that just so happens to be = to the Wa sales tax, on the actual invoice of the bike had I purchased it in state.
Not trying nor have I ever dodged my taxes, won't try, again I pay my way.

but when I can purchase a bike out of state and have it shipped here to my driveway - and its around $2400 LESS than what my local dealer is asking for the same bike?
and the tax impact will be the % of $2400 less.....to me its a no brainer.

But thats one racer/riders position, mine and Im old and bald and .......

HR you are exactly right on your position, no reason to gouge the customer because you can, and it is also fair to pay a reasonable price so the dealer makes a fair profit. That being said I saved a lot of money buying from Bills in OR on my last husky. Bills also doesn't charge a set up fee. Good luck hunting.

Sales tax in WA is approaching 9% and the governor wants to raise it some more. WA government is always trying to suck more than California.

My sales tax (Woodinville) is 9.5 and a bit higher in close in areas.
ONLY going to go up, as is gas tax, and if I had to bet (I don't go to vegas) there will be a state income tax in 5-7 years.
Yes Elections have consequences.

But this thread is about Husqvarna 300's.

Would you be interested in a nice Beta 300? 14 I think but new.

I rode both the Beta 250 and 300 and both pretty set up beyond stock.
300 was my fave no question.
suspension needed work for me, but Im pretty picky about my suspension and everyone has their own preferences and I have found that any of the modern suspension for the most part can be pretty amazing with a good tuner.

What struck me is how cramped I felt on it vs other bikes, and especially the KTMs/Yamahas/Honda.
Im 6'3" and 240 + plus geared up with ride vest, water etc - yup big old paratrooper (on active duty I fractured my spine @ T10 and T11 in a parachute jump)
- so while I still ride, compact riding compartments and being hunched etc causes havoc on my lower back and Im reminded it of it in the days following LOL
(why I had to sell my true vintage MX bike (yamaha MX360) with the standard 4" rear and 7" front suspension set up - couldn't ride or race it - back vetoed the concept!)

So the cramped style at the end of riding both really set with me - and they had tall bars, one had a tall saddle etc.

That cramped feeling was really what took the Beta off the list of consideration for me, the motor of the beta was stunning, I will say.
