  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE250 clutch problems

A Class
Hi all,

I have a 2013 TE 250R (ridden 6-7 times) and since new, I have experienced issues with the clutch grabbing when the bike is cold and the clutch is all the way in. Also when it is cold , releasing the clutch results in a jolting sensation, as if the clutch was grabbing and then not.

When i took it back to my dealer, they said they had to soak the clutch plates as they were dry.

WHen i took it out again, it worked fine, but one ride after the same issue popped up.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm still inside my 12m warranty period so i will be taking it back to the dealer for them to look at.

Cheers,

Tristo

My 2010 has done this from new when cold, once really hot the issue does almost disappear, it can be a pain in the slow stuff sometimes when cold but I've learned to live with it. There is a modification, from zip-ty I think, which is supposed to rid this but I have put up with it and made sure I get the bike really hot before starting a race.

What oil are you using? My 310 had clutch drag with the thick 50 wt oil but stopped dragging when I switched to 0w40 Mobil 1

Thanks - i'm not sure what oil is in there, will ask the dealer.

The problem definitely goes away once the bike is nice and warm.

Holy crap! You haven't changed the oil yet? I would get on that pretty quick. These bikes are hard on the oil plus there is manufacturing debris in there you need to flush out during break in.
