  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE250 2011 total power failure, what can be happenning?

AA Class
Past Sunday I went to a ride with my bike, a TE250 year 11, which is now about 100hrs of use and 2.7k kms on it, suddenly, it began losing power, then stalled. I tried to start it again and was ver hard, I worried and returned back to home from the trail(riding it).. when about 1mile from home, a white smoke showed up from the muffler, then lose all power and the engine stopped completely. On the oil glass sight, the oil looks like chocolate, kind of milky.. what could be happening here? no water entering the engine or mud during the ride.. Im worried about this.. any help is appreciated.

Check rad fluid if out or have lost a lot probably head gasket.
Do a differential compression test, (leakdown test) before pulling it apart.
Remove rocker cover and have a look see.
Later George

Thanks for the advise, how do I do a differential compression test?

Bottom line is that you have coolant mixing with engine oil. Where it is happening, how much and what kind of damage has been done are the things to be determined. If you are not comfortable disassembling and re-assembling an engine, then take the engine to Zip-Ty or Up-Tite and let them do it for you. Otherwise you will be learning as you go and that can be frustrating, time consuming and more expensive than it should be.

yeah.. as I live in Costa Rica, I ended up taking the bike to a dealer. Wish I'd be close enought to take it to Zip Ty or Up tite.

Now, what I would like to know is how to avoid this in the future, is there any way to do an inspection that help me prevent this or at least any symptom that lead me to know that this is happenning?

Also, why this issue happened with so low mileage, taking in consideration this bike has not been raced/abused and all maintenance were on schedule etc?? Any known issue for this model?

Thanks for your help
