    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

TE 630 radiator protection and SWM Superdual 650 X crash bars

Hello everyone,

My name is Alberto and I'm writing from Rome, Italy.

After many months of searching I have finally found what appears to be a very original 2011 Husqvarna TE 630 with only 20,000 km.

I'd like to benefit from the experience of long-time TE 630 owners.

I'm not looking for cosmetic accessories.

I'm only interested in solutions that have actually proven effective during real off-road use.

So I have two questions:

  1. Has anyone ever bent or broken a radiator during a simple tip-over? If yes, what protection actually prevented it?
  2. Has anyone successfully fitted the SWM Superdual 650 X crash bars onto a TE630?

The frame and engine are very similar, but I don't know whether they really protect the radiators or are mainly cosmetic.

Any photos, real-world experience or technical advice would be greatly appreciated.

When a Husqvarna TE630 falls over on a flat surface, does the radiator itself actually touch the ground?

I'm particularly interested in both sides (left and right).

Has anyone actually cracked, bent or punctured a TE630 radiator simply by dropping the bike at low speed or while stationary?

If so, which side was damaged and what part of the bike touched the ground first?

I'm trying to understand whether a radiator guard is actually functionally necessary on the TE630, rather than adding one just for appearance.
 
I killed 3 radiators on my 630SMS, the OEM Alexons are delicate.
I replaced them with much beefier Chinese radiators for the 2010 T250 that are a direct fit. Going on 12 years with them now with no issues.

Thanks very much for the information! Three radiators on the 630SMS is quite a lot, so this is very useful to know.


Do you remember how the OEM Alexon radiators failed? Were they bent/damaged in crashes or falls, or did they actually crack/leak from vibration, fatigue or normal riding?


Also, could you tell me which Chinese radiators you bought for the 2010 T250? If possible, I would really appreciate the exact brand, model or a link/photo of the ones you recommend.


Conversely, are there any particular Chinese radiators or sellers that you would recommend avoiding?


Since you have been running the replacement radiators for almost 12 years without problems, your experience is much more valuable than a generic internet recommendation.

One detail I'd like to clarify: when you say "2010 T250", which exact Husqvarna model do you mean?


Do you mean the 2010 TE 250, or another 250 model?


If you happen to have the part number, manufacturer, brand or a photo of the replacement radiators, that would be extremely useful.


I'm trying to identify the exact radiators that are a direct fit on the 630, because I'd like to keep a spare set available for the future.

Here's some that should work on ebay.

Mine originals failed from fatigue in the fins where they entered the end caps near the lower mounts. I did drop it several times goofing off but the radiators never touched.
