• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 630 overheating

Kiwijeff

Husqvarna
B Class
On a single trail bush ride yesterday the engine overheated and blew steam out the overflow. The fan didn't come on at all and there was no warnings on the dash.
At home I removed the fan and tested it on a battery and it worked although sometimes it wouldn't start until I gave it a little flick.
I removed the temp sensor plug and turned the key on and about 20 secs later the fan started and the neutral lite was flashing.
Is there any way of testing the temp sensor and the wiring lead ?
Does anyone know the price of a fan or another fan that will fit and the price of the temp sensor?

Temp Sender
Part number: 8000A6736
Description: *NOW USE 8000H3649****
Retail Price: 33.60

My local shop priced the fan at NZ$ 199 and the sender at NZ$ 45
The manual doesn't have any reference to temp warnings on the dash. has anyone installed a temp gauge or warning lite?
Thanks for the link and the upgrade sender part number.

After an overheating episode I added one of these temp gauges from Trail Tech. Cheap and easy to install.

Also, if you get in a pinch and are overheating because your fan won't come on you can unplug your fan from the sensor and it will run constantly.
Thanks Wrryder Looks like the trailtech temp gauge might be the go for me, I cant understand Husky not including one. I am going to look through the bike wreckers to find a fan, I did this once before for a fan for my Dakar and found one off a VFR400 exactly the same for $50.
WickedWill thanks for the update sender part number, I've ordered one from the shop.

what bike was the "new" fan from?
I think a Honda CBR 125 or something like that, I probably should have taken more notice. The blade diameter is a little smaller than the Husky one and I mounted it onto the Husky alloy bracket, and wired the Husky plug to it.

Went for ride yesterday, single track and riverbed, fan worked fine and no overheating on the bike, plenty of overheating from me after dragging it out of a bog hole!!

Cool tks for the info. Might be useful for others in similar situations

The prob with my 630 is NOT over heating. It must have been over eating. The thing is ... just ... too ... heavy.
Have removed everything I don´t need and it still feels unwieldy. It´s a PIG compared with my CCM 644.

I've replaced the battery with a lithium and a single can instead of two...and it's still heavy

I've come from a 196kg BMW Dakar, the TE630 feels like my old KDX200 compared to that.
Powering through river crossings the other day the bike came to a spluttering stop, would start and idle but cut out when I opened the throttle. I pulled the air filter but hardly anything in there and by the time I got it back in the bike ran fine ( 32 deg C heat that's around 94 in American ) I figured it may have been electrical and it must have dried out, I slowed down in the crossing and no problems. I seem to remember something in a thread about the ECU? Would it be the plug onto the throttle body or do all the plugs need water proofing ?

Do you still have the O2 sensor in the exhaust?
