• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 630-Leaking Clutch Master Cylinder

Kinda nice to know you could stop anywhere on a trip and get clutch fluid if it did start leaking for some reason.
I've even heard of people using baby oil in a pinch, temporarily. Baby oil is just mineral oil with some fragrance added.

cj. i just bled the clutch like i do brakes. pump lever and open nipple. u used the maguea blood oil from a bicycle shop 7. bucks for 2 ounce. its expensive.

Old thread, but I found it searching for the clutch master cylinder piston size, and wanted to pass on the info to my Italian Husky brothers (and sisters).

OEM part 8000A0914 is showing up at $56.25 atm in my searching. I found the Magura part # 0720555, 9.5mm piston kit for $10.92. I just received the 4 kits I ordered. Link: http://flymotorsports.com/magura-magura-9-5mm-piston-kit-720555/

Noticed recently the clutch lever is covered in oil, thanks for the link,Piston just arrived. Great deal way cheaper than amazon.

Mines had baby oil for the past 2 years, lol. It went low while on a trip, drug store was only thing open on Sunday. Some medical tubing and baby oil, and I was back on the road. Negotiating the town with traffic lights and traffic to get to said drug store with no clutch was the hardest part.

Ok, and check the bore of the master. Mine had some flaws in the anodizing, used a 9.5mm hone and cleaned it up. That was all about 8000 km ago or more. Checked it last week and it's still full, held up so far.

Mine has leaked on rare occasions since it was new. Flushed it once very early on, nothing since in over 6K miles. I used plain mineral oil in it from the drug store.
Also called a laxative, so my MC can poop easily. :applause:

Yea, I think that's more or less what I have, not the scented kind. From what I can figure from reading online, the biggest difference between the plain laxative mineral oil, and brake/clutch specific fluids, (besides the price) is the viscosity. Does it affect lever effort or clutch action? Not that I can tell.

PS. Here's the thread on my repair:
http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/magura-master-cylinder-leak-bad-bore.44317/#post-435241

Noticed the initial leak with about 2500km on the bike. Now have about 18,000 km and the fix is still holding up.

I highly doubt there is much variance in viscosity between commercially prepared clutch fluid and light or medium food-grade mineral oil. There is plenty of information to browse and study online if one wishes, I'm not going to bother.

Regular mineral oil works just fine in them. If you're uncomfortable at all about it just buy the magura-blood fluid from your favorite motorcycle parts dealer.
