• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 630 Fork Oil

Hey all,

Was out massing around in the Cali desert last weekend and came down pretty hard on the front end off a whoop and later noticed a little puddle of oil under the left fork the next morning. It didnt leak anymore, but after reading the shop manual i was inclined to tear it down and replace the seals. Upon closer reading the Marzocchi fork shop manual states, 5wt for "Rigorous" and 7.5wt for "Temperate" riding. I also noticed the service intervals for the fluid is rather short. 30 hours for harsh conditions and 60 hours for Nominal. I have 84 hours and 2.5k miles on the bike now. Oil looked pretty bad coming out but nowhere as bad as my annual fluid change on my KLR. Bushings look great too.

Anyone have any experience or suggestion on the wt of the oil or brand? I am looking at ABR seals and BelRay 5wt as i ride rather "Rigorous"

If it is the first change then the oil is likely to be a little grotty, but should improve after that. That has been my experience anyway.

I usually use Redline yellow (18cSt). Belray 5wt (17cSt) or 5wt HVI (19cSt) will do the trick.
