• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 610 dash/computer problem

I have a 2007 TE610 that i just purchased last week. It only has 650 miles and I absolutely love it. Was riding Saturday and had a 1mph tip over. The bike landed on the handguard so no harm no foul. Unfortunately, after I picked it up and started it the dash computer started doing this??? I checked all connections and don't see a problem. I took the negative cable off the battery hoping it would reset but nothing. As I was riding back home, the dash would sometimes start working again showing my speed, tach, etc. but then it reverted back to this. Any ideas?

How long did you disconnect the battery??... Sometimes it takes a good 15 minutes or so to clear a funky operating dash.

I disconnected the battery for about 20 minutes. I think it is gone...bummer

Check the magnet on your front rotor. My cluster started acting up right before I put my bike in storage for a year. While I was away I forgot about it but I came home and was doing maintenance when I noticed the tiny magnet had come out of its seat and remembered that I had had cluster issues last season. It was still magnetically stuck to the rotor, though, which accounts for the sporadic operation. I cleaned out the seat and glued it back in. No issues now and I ride my bike pretty hard.

Here's a thread from AdvRider. Careful you don't get blood clots in your legs...it's a long read if you're not an EE :D .

D'OH...I see you already posted there - nevermind :D .

I have an opportunity to buy an 06 SM 610. The owner says the speedo/tach go in and out and the lights blink for a milli second every once in a while. I was doing some research on the 06 SM 610 and read that they had a lot of other problems as well as with the dash. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Thx,

Larry
