  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 511 Flat spot

Crasy

Husqvarna
B Class
Went for a ride on Sunday , i was going down a step hill and stalled the old girl and then quickly bump started her again . After doing so when ever i was in to tall a gear and went to accelerate there was no response and it actually slowed and if i knocked it back a gear it would come back to life with full vengance. This continued for the rest of the ride . I have done 350 km and not had any previous problem. If anyone has any idea of how to fix this it would be a great help.

Does the 511 have a gear position sensor?

Yes, there is a neutral gear position sensor. It has a poor ecu map which has a flat spot around 7k rpm. JD tuner or PC5 to remove the flat spot, PC5 will eliminate flame outs.
I agree with Radar and to try the reset first. :)

TPS reset will not cure this. JD Tuner is a awesome mod for more power but I still get the occasional dead throttle but as we all know
it's just random and the next twist of the throttle it'll go. I'm still looking for a cure to the stalling/flameout thing that I'm still getting sometimes.
The frustrating thing is that it only seems to happen at the worst possible moment like on a steep hill climb or rocky step up.
If I knew for sure that a PC-V or Bazazz would fix this I would consider forking out the $ for one. I'm waiting for someone with a 449/511
who's got one and could give us a report. Tinken ?? I'm surprised Husqvarna hasn't addressed this stalling crap. I'm sure they're aware of it
and you'd think they would at least acknowledge it and give us some kind of solution. I've actually e-mail Husky N/A about it just for kicks knowing
I wouldn't get a reply. C'mon Husky.. issue a recall or at least tell what the issue is. Still love my 511 but it can be frustrating at times.

Low rpm flame outs are caused because on the BMW map, the lower addresses are too lean and probably read zeros. This can only be fixed by programing the change into each small address.

What Year TE? Run fine after it cools down?
Might read this post as well.

HNA has no way to find this problem since the tech only ride the bike a few miles. You are not alone on this issue

Read this post below! I use to experience "lack of throttle response" on my bike about 7-10 times on a 30 mile ride. After all the ground changes, Cap Flip, TPS Reset, only two errors in 486 miles.

you should have gotten a map jumper with the bike in a little bag. This will bypass the O2 sensor and resolve any stalling and or Flame out issues! when i first got my bike I rode it for what it was and it would stall coming to a stop or just about to get on it, so I went home took out the plug, put it in! and now it should read on the display "race map II" never stalls! increased RPM and way more power. The fuel mileage was not effected that much. I just put a new pipe on and it really made a difference it has a power band on the top end that I never new existed kind of like the old YZ490 did steady power then BAMM! kicks ass now loving it more and more each day...

Yes, they all come with the warranty defeating power up plug. But my 2012 TE 449 runs just fine and is completely stock. It has as much power as I need.

How do you install the power up plug? The USB that I got will not works my MAC so if the instructions are there I'm out of luck. I downloaded the workshop manual online but haven't been able to find it in there either. Can someone help? My dealer just handed me the bag with no explanation and didn't say anything about the plug voiding the warranty. WhenI talked to service about the stalling, they said it would go away aft the engine broke in - anyone have any experience with that - sound reasonable?

The warranty defeating power up plug goes in under the seat and under the Keihin ecu.

The bike still flames out with the power plug in, but there is a huge increase in power. The only way to totally cure the flame outs is to change the ecu out/bypass it with another such as the powercommander5.

The power up plug is just a plug and play affair, turn the bike off, plug it in, turn the bike on and it should say race map II on the dash when the bike's turned on and running.

If you're close to a dealer, have them load the "Akrapovic Full System" Map, even if you are running stock exhaust. I run this Map with the jumper plugged in and set the Air Bypass screw at 2 3/4 turns and it has eliminated all stalling. I run a 47T rear sprocket and can still lug in through the tight stuff without a problem.

My bike no longer has a flame out problem. It is nearly stock. It has had the evap canister removed. It is not in power up mode. The changes I have made are:

I wrapped the header pipe with fiberglass exhaust wrap and insolated the small fuel tank near the exhaust pipe to keep the fuel and fuel pump from overheating.

I upgraded the battery to a Shorai lithium battery and upgraded the battery leads and ground connections. I also grounded the EFI throttle body. With the stock setup the starter would occasionally stall and the trip meter and ECU would reset to default settings. It the throttle was not at the zero position when this happened the TPS would reset to the wrong point and cause the bike to run shitty and flame out until the TPS was reset properly.

I also installed a G2 throttle tamer. I highly recommend it.

Also after the bike gets a few thousand miles on it the motor really smoothes out.

Cool, the ground wire deal is what I need to do next. I noticed on our ride yesterday, the trip reset twice. Being a motorcycle tech makes me kind of lazy when it comes to doing stuff on my own bike. Going to knock it out this weekend! I see your from So. Nevada- ever heard of Yerington??
