  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

te 510 mpg with power up can we make it better?

C Class
Hi all I have the 08 Te 510 and am getting about 65 kilometers to the tank:doh: and that's not even when Im gittn up it!
my local dealer is OK but the mechanic is a retard and Im not getting a lot of joy.

Are you seeking knowledge with regards to how to get more mpg (mpk)? If so this thread would probably be better off in the 4st section and I can move it.

A little more detail about your bike would also be good. Power up kit installed, has the ecu adjusted with the ibeat (and what values are in it), or any other information that might be helpful?

'Retard' is a term not often seen on this forum.

the power up kit is installed and the bike has been on the dyno twice with i-beat.
I have extremely bad fuel economy ant the bike runs rough between 4000rpm and 6000rpm when im cruising on the road, it runs great under hard acceleration and starts fine.
I don't have any info on the tune because I don't think my dealers mechanic likes me any more(after two tunes at $400 a pop with no difference you would get a little upset to)

Awesome that you could give more detailed information :)

That does not always happen on a forum such as this...

I would be far more than upset.

Anyway what I would do is this:
  • Call Halls Cycle in IL, give them your vin # and see if you ecu needs re-flashing. If so you can mail it to them for a small fee ($50?, not sure)
  • Then contact Semco (banner in the top of the efi forum) and buy a PC V & auto tune - not a cheap solution, but about the only solution. Also available from Dynojet and other places but Semco knows all about Huskys.

Your mileage will be much better. :)

Yes I am aware that you should not need to do those 2 items to get decent mpg... but that was the best arrangement given the circumstances. You bike is running about 30% too rich, and I am *sure* it accelerates with tremendous, almost explosive force - because that is about the only time the fuel mixture is about right.

I'll move this into the 4st section so if someone is looking for the same type of information in the future, they will have a better chance of finding it.

edit: Because of my mistake, it got moved to the 2st, and then to the 4st section - I screwed up.

You need to get your money back. Was that a dealer that charged $400? Twice.?

I had something like that happen to me a long time ago. I had the front end of a Ford Falcon fixed. I quickly discovered it wasn't really frixed and was making the same issue. Took it back and AMAZINGLY they charged me for the same parts. I paid the bill and stopped payment on the check to get the car back. The dealer called and I told them what the issue was. They had me come in and sign off on warranty, as if the original parts were defective. Still it didn't cost me for the 2nd trip.

First time I ran out of gas on my 07 TC450 this weekend at 47 Miles, I was on it prety hard at times too. :p

I just want to point out to others that may be reading this thread, that may not know all the bike years/configurations, you have a carb and the person that started this thread has an efi bike. 2 completely different things.

I know, I typed what I typed for the people that know little about the Husqvarna bikes... you know, the people 'thinking' about buying them, and just starting their research.

You input was greatly appreciated.

If i was to fit a 02 sensor would the bike go back to running in closed loop?

If you re-installed the O2 sensor that came with your bike, and connected it to the harness, then yes you would run closed loop. I don't recall all the details or even if that configuration was tested for afr (how rich the bike runs).

I do know that the 2008 bikes run very rich in open loop, at least the ones I tested.

Thanks mate I think I will try that first the only trouble is I don't have one. I got the bike with the power up kit already installed
has any one got one for sale?
