  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FAIL message is on. Bike will run fine then sputter like crazy 5 minutes later. Jd tuner installed. Any ideas?

Install race plug and go to race map II. Remove O2 sensor, replace with oil drain bolt 12 x 1.25mm (auto parts store).

Perhaps you need to reset the TPS? Either way I would still disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes top restart the computer. What year?

Done all the race mods. I have reset the comp. One time without the Jd, would not crank then. Thought it may be bad gas , it was just ran on Kentucky gas anyway. Fuel filter seems clear. 980 miles, Its 2012.

Well, maybe its time to go over all the electrical connectors. I've read where a few guys have solved similar issues by going over each one, cleaning and then adding the dielectric grease of their preference. Especially true if you've been rippin through the muddy waters of my old Kentucky home.

race plug is in and race II appears on screen before FAIL message comes on. it will idle fine for about 2 minutes before it sputters a couple times then FAIL is shown. it will conk out just sitting idling for a while.

You can check to see if there is blockage in the vent line between the reserve fuel cell and the main cell. Two minutes is the general time that a petcock or vent blockage takes to kill the engine.

well, i checked all my lines and re-plugged the power up. it ran great for a few rides now its back. wont show fail...sputters like crazy then fail appears. runs fine but power seems to be down.

Intermittent problems are the enemy of every engineer and mechanic. It's almost funny how you sit there and hope the sort of broken thing will actually fail just to get it over with. :banghead:

i had similar problem , it was fuel pump $320 for new from husky $100 for just the pump itself from a company in cali
husky knows their pumps have issues but wont warranty them

Costs $11 to test it. I'm guessing it's either temp sensor or fuel pump, sensor is cheaper to check.
