  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi everyone just to share a problem that i've encounter over my last ride up in the high country vic.About 25min into our ride the fuel light came on and pulled over to see why knowing that is full of fuel ,anyway traced the problem to a sticky fuel tap(main tank) and a partially squeezed breather hose .For some reason the main problem was the breather hose i've must done it when i removed the plastic side cover. As i was trying to work why no fuel feeding into the clear tank i played with the taps turning them off and on several times ,which are prone to get stuck closed and only if you take it off and push it open with a screw driver or similar is the only fix.So if your fuel light comes on and you know fuel is not an issue check breather is not pinched.

Further more when i got the bike back home and had a closer look i've discovered a circlip was missing from the bottom of the tap,so make sure there's a circlip there otherwise if you shut the tap off it will not open unless you remove it from the tank and force it open with a srewdriver or similar. Now others may had this problem aswell if you noticed the clear tank not filling up as quick as it should and the warning light comes on as i stated above it's a breather hose issue.Even with the hose in perfect condition it seems when riding your legs apply pressure on the side panels(plastics) as it is natural to hold the bike with your legs as a result squeezes the hose resulting in air flow reduction. The solution seems to be easy enough just to reroute the hose,as we all now even the simplest things sometimes can be a bit of a challenge.

I think on these bikes the only reason to close the fuel valve would be to remove the tank.

Yeah you're right mate there's no reason to turn 'em apart from when you have to , however the design is simple and smart I 'not so sure about the integrity of the material used internally (hard plastic I think)
