  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 449 Air filter removal???

Husqvarna
AA Class
Went to service the air filter on my new 2011 TE 449 today. Removed seat and side covers. I see the air box. Does the air box have to come OUT to get to the filter?? WTF

Shouldn't do ...

Air filter check
- Remove the saddle and right-hand side panel, as described in the relevant
paragraphs.
- release retaining clips (1), and slide filter (2) out of vehicle right side, taking
special care not to damage the two retaining hooks;
- widen the two retaining tabs (3) and remove subframe (4) with sponge (5);
- remove sponge (5) from subframe (4) and check if it needs cleaning or replacing;
- refit all the disassembled parts in reverse order, making sure to position filter
sponge (5) with the "TOP" wording facing up. Refit filter (2) inside guides,
push it all the way down and lock it using the clip-on fasteners (1).

Take the right side rad cover off the bike, flip the two latches and pull the bottom of the box and air filter out the right side. Simple. The stock filter is kinda crap. I am using the Notoil supplied filter and it is much more robust IMHO.

I see the Twinair on your site, when are you going to start selling the Notoil?
Didn't know there was a K&N replacement?

lol, no .. apparently there isn't. my bad, assumed good ol' k&n made something for everybody. Thought remains the same - upgrade the sponge.
