    TE = 4st Enduro & TC = 4st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 310 weight?

Last Lap

Husqvarna
A Class
I brought my bike home filled it full of fuel and put it on my race car scales. Scale are made by intercomp. It came out to 277lbs. That was a shock. Claimed dry weight is 235.8. I don't think fluids weigh 42 pounds. I put my friends 2008 KTM EXCR (the one with electric start) on right after and it came out to 278lbs.

Wow, chubby. There really isn't much difference between the TE250/310/450/510 is there? Aren't the components basically the same outside of bore/stroke?

My '09 TE 310 weighed 260 lbs with about two quarts of gas in the tank. Full of gas at 277 sounds about right.

Gallon of gas is 2.69 to 2.91 kg (5.93 to 6.42 lbs), depending on temperature, type and blend .

Just say 6 lbs a gallon

Oil is just under 2 lbs a quart.

Plus anti-freeze

Aww why didn't you weight before you fill er up?:excuseme:

Yep, it's worse than I feared. My 08 TE450 ready to ride weights about 280. It feels lighter until you pick it up. Rocking side to side feels fairly lite.

This thread is distressing. I wouldn't want a dirtbike that weighs exactly twice what I weigh...

The whole reason I got interested in a Husky in the first place was when I was looking for the lightest (and sexiest!) 450 available for a dualsport. The TE seemed to fit the bill. I ended up with the KTM simply due to a great deal from a friend that I couldn't pass up, but when it came time for a bigger motor I ran straight to Husky. No regrets at all, but it does reinforce my feelings that a 2-stroke is the way to go for a real singletrack dirt bike. Anyone know what the 2-strokes weigh?

Really. this surprises me as well as Jakes 08 TXC250 (e-start) is 245

http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showthread.php?t=764

i guess the street crap weights 15 pounds. Was this with the cat and canister etc?

K

yea-
08 TXC450 is listed dry at 237.6 lbs, 08TE450 is listed dry at 246.4lbs

wouldn't surprise me if the difference were more, all the little stuff adds up quick- then add guards and armor- anyone know how much the fuel pump weighs?

I would be happy if the weight of the 09TE450, I am getting, was close to my 2002 Ktm RFS- (247 lbs claimed dry weight). But its all about where the weight sits. I don't think I will be disappointed.

I get the fascination with weight but it really is not that big of a deal. My TXC450 is LOADED with extra crap and weighs a ton I'm sure. I still think for 80% of the riding it is the better choice than my 125. Other than picking it off the ground I can feel the difference but it is not limiting. Also heavier bike track a lot nicer through the nasty stuff. Basically i would not freak out, all the modern 4 strokes weigh in the 260 range but work great.

Are you guys riding it or bench pressing it? Just messing with you, it really is how the bike carries the weight. I have rode bikes that I know for a fact are lighter than my TXC but feel heavier when riding in the single track.

Although, I would like her to lose 20 - 30 pounds, Kelly is right about the bike just feeling more stable/grounded through the nasty stuff. It doesn't get bounced around like my old KX 125! Besides, if anyone needs to lose 30 lbs, it's me!

That my friend is the understatement of the year.

If I could lose 25-30 lbs.:D:D

Man can you imagine if your bike was 30 lbs lighter.

I'm going on a diet....

It does tend to get heavier as the day goes on if you've got to pick it up. After using up all my talent, fell over into a hole last weekend and immediately began cursing that extra fuel in the IMS. Use your legs not the back. Thank dog for Ibuprofen.
