I have a 13 TXC 310 that I bought as a dedicated single track bike to add to my 11 TXC 449. I planned on plating the 449 and usiing it for summer riding. The winter riding here is limited to tight single track with very little elevation change. Summers is high cascade mountain riding with steep long elevation changes and the need for a plate. After much time on both bikes. I am impressed more by the 449. Even in the tight single track it does not feel much heavier or more tireing to ride than the 310. The smooth tractable motor and the smoothness of the cts over trail trash are difficult to describe. The 310 turned a bit better until a friend let me use his hard parts triple clamps set at 15mm. Wow! The bike turned much better, was still stable in the open whoops and made the bike feel more balanced. A properly set up 449 is just as good in the tight single track but when it opens up there is no comparison. The 449 is much better in the open.
Knowing what I know now. I would have never purchased the 310.
