  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 310 License Plate Mount

Does anyone know of a license plate mount for a 2012 TE 310 that does not look so "streety"? I want to retain the turn signals, but perhaps a lower profile blinker would be nice also. Can anyone provide alternatives to consider? Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

Take off all the dangly bits and you will be left with a short 'tail' just below the tail-light.
I siliconed and zip-tied a piece of kydex plastic to the tail.
The kydex piece is just bigger than the licence plate and keeps the plate from deforming due to gravel roost.
Zip-tie and silicone the licence plate to the kydex.
On the 310 the signal lights can be relocated just forward of where they are stock.
Perfect fit and costs nothing.
Wish I had a better photo, but this is the best I have (no longer own the 310)

I used the OEM mount but trimmed it and moved the plate up. Replaced the plate light with an LED, and aftermarket blinkers. LED was a few bucks and super easy to install.

Dale:

I like your idea. Thanks for posting the pictures. Are those aftermarket turn signals?

0102132050a.jpg Just trimmed mine a bit, installed an LED bolt plate light and removed the spacer blocks on the turn signals so they do not stick out so far. Total cost $6.99 from PEP Boys for the chrome LED light.

I changed my mind and decided to mount mine like this.

Check out DRC Electrical Edge 2 LED tail light with universal holder from Wheeling Cycle Supply:

I also used these LED turn signals type 601:

I also have this new controller board on the way to integrate the turn signals into the tail light.

I attached some so-so pics. Really like the setup, very stealth and up out of the way.

Dale:

Do you happen to have any detail pics of how the Sicass turn signals are mounted in the rear? I've got the signals, and am thinking about going with your setup again. Pics of how you have them mounted and the wiring detail would be really helpful if you have them.

Thanks,

Mike
