  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 2009 tail light stuck on

Bandit 1

Husqvarna
Hi.. after having my bike on a trailer the tail light stays on..I've unplugged the lead from the front break and adjusted the height of the brake pedal and took the part out where the 2 wires go into the bolt and the tail light still stays on.
any help would be much appreciated

cheers beers.

You mean the brake light right? Check the switch on the front brake, it can fall out of its mount.
Thanks for the reply
I did find that the front break switch had fallen out. I clicked the button a few times then put it back in & the break light still stayed on.

I have the rear & front break unplugged and the break light is still on.

Yes, going outside to go take a closer look.

( bike is with me here at work, my business / shop )

Thing is I have to reactivate all road legal functions to get a plate on it.
Bought second hand good shape but PO plated off road..

On edit : Nope no kind of brake light switch at all on font,
this is normal condition right ? The only brake light switch on the model
is for the rear, is this correct ?

Front brake switch is a little button that sits on the side of the brake lever and is activated when the break lever is pulled in witch allows the button to open up.

Ok great thanks.
Called JP today ( local dealer ) and he says no front
brake activated light needed. Do you have a SMR Bandit ?
So far looks like I can get a plate just by getting a rear brake light going,
add mirrors and put the flashers on.
I'm going to go with the DRC Edge 2 rear LED light and swap out to
removable turn signals once all said and done.

SMR = The road racing model ( Motard ) with slicks
TE = Enduro
TC = Motocross

Just saw you avatar Bandit, you have the TE

Been cleaning up the rats nest of wiring in front lamp area today.
A lot can be said for preventative maintenance..Will be double
checking and going ovber the whole wiring harness to
avoid any problems out on the trail.

You can get the shop manual online, it has the wiring diagram.
I printed it out and will study it tonight while I relax
in the bathtub hehe.

If the rear light is getting power with the ignition off then there is a short somewhere maybe causing it to get power. Was the bike particularly wet or muddy? I remember mine did that once or twice and it was either becasue I had rear indicators disconnected and some carp got in some wiring, or a wire had rubbed through somewhere in the rear which isnt uncommon.
Is the headlight/parker light on when the tail light is stuck on?

Thanks for reply dugg
the ignition/dash and the head light are all on when the break light is on..I did have trouble with the left rear indicator and found that it needed to be rewired I have cleaned the bike with a gerni But the bike has been dry for a couple of weeks.

If the bike otherwise runs fine theres a good chance its rubbed through/corroded or gounded wires. Only proper way to tell is to inspect. You can get to 90% if you remove the tank and plastics. Most of whats left is behind the front headlight plate which is two 8mm screws.
The loom can get caught easily under the tank against stuff. Its easy to fix a rubbed through or broken wire if that's all it is.
