  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC449 service intervals

What kind of service intervals are you guys running on your TC449? In Hours? I have a TE511 i go off miles not hours but that not going to happen on the TC. Oil changes? and Valves or other services?

I think husky has service manuals on their website. Not sure what personal opinions are. I haven't seen to many TC post, just TE and TXC's. Sorry I can't be more help. Just figured you should at least have one reply, even if it's from a bike less guy lol

What you need is a workshop manual. I think there is a thread on this site where you can obtain one. Search using jtemple. I hope this helps.

Hey lads, I have a 2011 tc 449, the book states oil every 10 hrs, filters and screens every 10 hrs, crank replace at 25 hrs, valves at 50hrs....I personally change the oil (motul, 300v) and clean the screens and change the filter every 5 or 6 hrs. The air filer seems to last for a while but, I still replace with a spare every second ride at least. It really depends what terrain and dust levels etc you ride in.....I ride mainly sandy whooped out tracks ranging from high speed to medium speeds in general. I don't race MX, run mainly scrub riding. The TC was purchased for the stiffer suspension and slightly higher state of tune as I competed in the Finke desert race in OZ......The spokes continually loosen, have had some issue with chain tensions as explained in another post, Run a stearing dampner for the high speed riding, bash plate, unbreakable levers etc etc, all the normal stuff when out scrub. The bike pulls approx 160 km/ph with the gearing at present, ....Unfortunately the big end bearing detonated 80 kays from the finish line with 50 hrs on the clock at the time ( see other post, TC Crank Failure ), Current cost of the rebuild in parts only approx $2000.00. Will be starting assembly in a few days when the final parts arrive, (main bearings and oil pumps).....I have a full workshop manual for the 2011 model if you need a copy etc. I really enjoy the Husky but, am pretty dissapointed with the engine failure at 50 hrs. I will be running motul 10/60 as recomended by my dealer after the rebuild, not the 300v 15/50 as recomended for my previous TE 310. In theory the 10/60 is not as higher quality oil as the 300V but, that is the recomendation, so thats what I will be using..

wow, that's rough to hear after 50hrs. I'm only running supermoto with mine hope it lasts a bit longer. But I will take your advice on the oil and see how it goes! ThanX. My first track day on the new bike will be tomorrow!

Make sure there's a ride report (pictures are great too!)

Rode a small track today and the bike is insane! so much more pep and get up. Throttle response is defiantly better, but the gear box is really tight and short. I'll have to invest in a lot of sprocket but I can live with that. bike held up well today but that the only thing that scares me. there are TEs rolling around with 3500+ miles and sill rocking but there are TCs with 50 hours going boom. SO those might be the extremes but we will see how it does. Burned about 5 gallons through it today and it feels great! a few minor adjustment and I'll be ready for the Shawano race next weekend! pics and video from today coming later.

Pro series? Are you doing Colorado too? I think there's another guy here that does the 450 class.
