  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC449 Megabomb or similar header

Anyone had any luck with actually making power with these headers? Will the work with the stock Akro can? I love the way the Akro sounds and performs well too. The FMF pipe looks like garbage but I could use a extra pony or two if the headers perform......

The megabomb header fits a TC449 only. I had to convert my TE511 over to a TC449 in order to fit my megabomb header and silencer. It works great and my 4.1rct + mid-pipe is pretty nicely made.

From stock to that exhaust there was a huge change, especially to the low end. Solved my flame out issues too.

I really like the Akro stock Ti Muffler but if there are gains to be had with the Mega bomb header I will pick one up. Do you think the Muffler helped or the header? You are also running a TE not a TC, the mufflers are a bit more restrictive on the stock TE models compared to the TC model. Any one have any dyno numbers for the Mega Bomb?

The Akro system is real pretty. I know that Ty removed the Akro systems from the race bikes and added full FMF. I am sure if you called, he would be more than happy to answer any questions.

I did the header and silencer at the same time, along with a JD tuner. It made a huge difference, but having done it all at once I'm not sure how much credit I can give just to the header.

I have the FMF header and silencer on my 511. Increased power but the bike ran really hot. It went in for the first service and they lowered the idle and remapped the ecu and its now running a bit cooler. Asked about getting a JD tuner and was told it wouldn't make much difference with the new mapping - I assume its the one for the Akro.
Anyone know if there is much difference between the mapping and JD tuner? Assume people wouldn't be buying the JD tuner if there wasn't.

JD is the best piece you can buy for the money. Without none of your other parts are going to make power anyways. And McKay is correct YOU determine how the bike runs. Your bike was just running lean that's why it was hot. I bet it is still lean even with their reflash. The JD and some dyno time will do your bike wonders. It will also give you a piece of mind KNOWING it is running correct not just hoping the dealer put the correct tune in there.
