  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC449 intermittent no crank/start

Any one else had their TC449 or TE511/449 not want to crank when hot? Mine has been acting up. Only when hot and it will half crank or not crank at all and just click or nothing some times. Like the starter solenoid or starter it self? Any issue? My 2011 has ran flawless but this has been going o for a while on my 2013.

Shorai Lithium Battery It has quite a bit more CCA than the stock one, I would have to look it up again but I think it was twice the CCA, And I can eventually usually get it to crank just keep hitting the button for 30 sec or so, but it get me in a panic before a race if I have all my gear on ready to go.

I've heard and seen some of the new fancy once overhead and therefore not working well. Unsure if this could be something. If you still have the old battery you could try swapping.

If i stall my 11' 511 when hot, really doesn't like starting back up straight away. Weird.
Stock Battery

I still have the other batttery but I don't know how that could make this happen because it will eventually crank.. I might swap over some parts form my 2011 to test. Just figured I would see if anyone else has seen this before.

my smr also suffers from a compression lock up when hot or when it flames out. the thing that seems to help is rocking the bike back and forth to move the piston in the cylinder a little. the bike has to be in gear to move the piston also laying into some throttle helps get things going again

yea, my 11 txc does the same thing. rock it little then put back in neutral starts right up.

That sound more like it, and yeah that was the first thing I though putting it in gear and rocking it does not seem to help much, maybe next time I'll try 2nd gear and rock it. I was thinking the compression might be it. Sill not 100% sure though because it will like half crank sometimes too, but stop and I think that would have moved the piston off TDC.

I would check the valve clearances and the compression release while you have the valve cover off.
