  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I have a 2008 te450 and I'm looking for a tc250 for a play around bike for going for quick spins around my local mx tracks, I am willing to spend up to $6500 for one and I want to know what year model is the best value for money...

I've got a 2010 and love it on the MX track. But heck for 5K you can get a new 2013.
yer I don't necessarily like the 2013 models because of the lower grade components that BMW has changed to, I have been looking at either a 2010 or 2011 model but just not sure yet

The 10's are carbed and can be hard starters if the carb mods aren't done. Also from what I hear not as fast as the later bikes either. That said I haven't had a single problem with mine. Simple carb bike, no fuel pump, ejector, or other problems that can go wrong like with the 2011-2013's, Plenty fast enough for me on a MX track too.

fair enough, my mate has a 2011 and I really like it but u cant go wrong with a bike as simple as the 2010's, I also love the adjustability of the Marzocchis on the 2010's aswell

I have a 2012 Tc250 and the thing fn rips!! and is a much better bike than the 2010/11's
Do some research and read the reviews and you'll find that the 2010/11 models are under powered and not really competitive.

The 2012/13's with the red head are a much more powerful and competitive bike and start so much easier than the 2010's
What inferior components are you referring to :excuseme: as other than engine changes and a much better top of the line full Akrapovic exhaust system, a KYB Shock rather than the crappy Sachs one, and closed cartridge KYB forks rather than open cartridge they are the same component wise. 2010's don't have Marzocchis, unless some came out with them just to use up left over stock, which Husqvarna does a lot.
After all that it's your money, so spend it on the bike you want  I just think that with the prices of the 12/13's at the moment you would be mad to buy a 2010/11 model

ok ill take that on board because all the stuff I said is gathered from what other people have been telling me so obviously you know more than the other guys, cheers mate

Mate, whatever you end up buying i hope you kick arse with it in QLD enduro ;)
TC's are a great bike for enduro racing. All the best:thumbsup:

I also forgot to mention a much better frame

I've got 2 010 TC250s ... I'll say the rider is underpowered.. Not the bike in most cases ..

Stock bike here with a PRO caliber rider here ...

Here is example of a fat ALUM framed, underpowered bike following my 010 TC250. He just did not have the horses to complete with this Husky...101_0863.JPG

The 010 CARB models had a few issues with starting ... They needed a JD tuner kit AND some had a cam problem, that in my case, was not the cam BUT the auto-decompressor on the exhaust cam ... This was 100% the issue with my bike and should be checked if you have one of these bikes and it starts hard...

The 012 TC250s (which I have also but not ridden yet), has EFI and should have all the fuel pump and injector issues solved ... But you never know... Fixing EFI issues are expensive as you will need to purchase software to fix most any issue with it ...

--
KYBs forks should be on the 010 models and at 150lbs, my stock bike works very well on tracks and trails with only clickers changes for each type riding ... Myth busted for me on that issue ...

--
These 010 models work well on trails due to the controllable engine power, weight and the very good handling of the bikes ... With stock gearing (13\50), first gear is a little tall for tight ST but not a big deal if you know how to ride a bike ... Many go to the 12T FS for this issue.

My 010 bikes. #318 has had suspension work and is a little better than the stock suspension ...But as I said and is shown in the pics ... The stock suspension is alright with me ...101_2866.JPG

Unless you are a top racer and pin the bike you are riding now on a track, that underpower remark should not be an issue with your riding these bikes ...

EDIT: 010 TC250 should be ~$3,000.00 .. If 2012s are 5000$, that is about a 66% increase in price ... You make the call there ...
